I apparently have the option to get another firearm for Christmas. Let's say we'll keep it under $600 (New or used).
I can't think of any rifles or shotguns that I'd get use out of, other than a 10/22, right now. No XD/XDm. I already have 2. No Glocks or revolvers. Had a G19 & sold it. Also, no .45 caliber. I'd like to stay with 9mm or .40 S&W.Feel free to add to the list and/or chime in on what's on it.

Here ya go:
Sig P226
Beretta 92FS
Ruger MKIII
1911 of some sort
CZ 75B
Ruger 10/22
AK-47

Why not a 10/22?

Out of that list, if you already have pistols, why not a 10/22?

They're fun to shoot, inexpensive to shoot, inexpensive to buy and a LOT of fun to accessorize, upgrade and build to your personal perferences and particular likes and dislikes.

I'm actually thinking of picking one up myself to build into an awesome target rifle, but as I already have 2 .22 rifles including a GSG-5, it's hard for me to justify the expense at this time.

Speaking of a GSG-5, if you'd consider another .22 why not a GSG-5?

I just wrote a review on one in HuntX3 Magazine and I really, really liked the gun. In fact in this issue of X3 we have writeups of both the GSG-5 and on customizing a 10/22. Maybe they can help you out?

Happy Holidays!

Josh, I had a GSG-5. It was a piece of junk. I also had a 10/22 & sold it. I will get another 10/22. If not this time, then next year.

I have rifles & pistols already. I want more of both lol

The only reason I say no .45 is b/c I don't want to start stocking another caliber, but I am now thinking maybe a .45 1911 may be the wa to go, but I don't know which variation to buy nor what fair pricing is for 1911s.

If .45 isn't a problem then..

Get a Rock Island. I spent $380 new for mine. The last time I was in the shop I bought mine in, they had one for $405. That is still pretty low. They are great and you can decide whether or not you like the platform. Just make sure you get good mags. I like Wilson Mags. My pistol has never jammed using these mags. If you have a little more money to spend, look into a Springfield ($550) a Taurus ($630) or even a Kimber Custom II ($750 when I bought mine). You don't have to spend a mint to get a good 1911.

If you venture into .45ACP...
Another vote for a Rock Island Armory (Armscor) 1911. You can get NIB for less than $400.

Try looking for a H&K P-7PSP. Grade B police trade in's, are within your budget.

These threads just kill me. Buy what you want, not something you think someone else says you should buy, engage your brain for crying out loud,

Out of thirteen hanguns: Ruger: Bearcat .22, Single Six 22Mag, Blackhawk .357, Anniversary Blackhawk .44 Mag, 2 1/4" SP 101 .357, MKI .22, Beretta: 92FS centurion 9mm, Bobcat .22, North American Mini .22, Kel Tec 3A-T 380, Walther PPK/S (S&W version) .380, Davis Derringer .22, and an old break over the top S&W .32. My five favorites are: Beretta 92FS centurion 9mm, Ruger SP 101 .357, Ruger MKI .22LR, Ruger Anniversary Blackhawk .44 mag, and Beretta Bobcat .22. I would also say the Single Six in 22 Mag is a great gun; I would suggest one as a first handgun, vert accurate and easy to shoot.

If I kept my Ruger's and my two Beretta's and got rid of the other handguns, I would be perfectly happy.

As far as a .22 LR I would get a Marlin Papoose. It's a small gun for a small cartridge (suits a .22LR well). I have a Winchester 9422 Mag, but if I was buying now I would get a Henry lever gun in .22 Magnum. I think I would like a Ruger Hawkeye for a big game rifle. Of course you may want an AR 15 variant. I have a Mini 14. Also a Winchester 94 30-30 and a Remington 742 in 30-06.

Walther p38/p1 9mm
I like the sks ideal or a marlin 336 30/30

My thoughts don't matter thoe it is what you want and find that do.

I would suggest not reading these type threads. The title of this one gave it away.

It is prudent to get opinions from other enthusiasts that to "just buy what you want."

;)

My vote goes to the,

[X] P226

-or-

Nineteen eleven if you need to practice up on malfunction clearing exercises.
