Maybe Spanish in origin? Or somewhere in the Middle East? Perhaps Pakistan?

I like sparkyfender's observation in that it resembles a Beretta Model 1951/Maadi Helwan.

Looks to be well made with a decent blued finish. With the absence of any markings possibly a prototype or home-made concoction.

Two things also appear to be missing: some kind of safety and the magazine release.

The origin likely IS Pakistan/India, possibly Afghanistan. The previous owner worked in this area in industrial overseas aid as a vertical driller/instructor for water wells in the 1950's and '60s. He was also an avid arms collector. I've been able to identify the other send homes from his collection, mostly Japanese, antique Commonwealth, export broom handles and Nazi weapons and some Khyber pass oddities. They were Some very good and rare pieces! Family is keeping all the firearms and militaria, but friend asked me as his resident "gun nut" to help identify them so they can find approximate values on their own. Apparently I'm getting most of the reloading stuff whether I want it or not when he returns to MN for the summer. This one has me stumped. I don't think it's Khyber pass as it's too well made.

That is all sorts of cool. Any idea if the previous owner ever fired it?

Stay safe.
I know there was a partial Red/white box of Federal 9mm with it. One can only assume as there were other 9mms of more certain provenance in the collection. I think my friend is keeping this one, so I may be the guinea pig. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person, then we'll see how brave I am. I'm thinking a ladder Unique/115 cast starting well below start load after a dummy round function/chamber test and a bore slug!

My guess is that it's a knockoff of the French MAB PA-15 pistol.

ETA: Have you looked inside, to see what sort of action it has (i.e., straight blowback, Browning-style tilting barrel, etc)? That might help narrow down what it was copied from.

The presumed grip safety looks a bit awkward, and I am not a fan of what looks like the mag release on the lower left below the safety. Then again, that stuff could all be there for the stock. I wonder what the trigger is like.

It doesn't seem a 9mm pistol to me. It looks more like a .22L.R. or a .32ACP pistol. Pics of the muzzle? No caliber marks on the chamber or the magazine?

that has to have been a prop on the 80s show Knight Rider, in the end it turns out the only character to ever actually fire it was the car.

Did anyone mention the shoulder stock mount? All I know is no matter the origin. A VERY practice hand with various draw files; can make a lot of things people just wouldn't believe.

Whatever it is, it sure looks clean and well cared for. The red and purple dots are a bit funny.

I’ve never seen sights like that on any handgun, but my experience with foreign guns is very limited. That could be common in some places, but it’s definitely new to me.
