So a shop I frequent has a Browning Short A-Bolt Action for sale. (Ignore the label saying it's an X-Bolt.) I'm trying to think of something to do with it that doesn't cover something I already have. Also perhaps find out who can actually put such a thing together.

A fast twist .223. Perhaps a 1-6" or 1-7" twist to let me fire the super heavies.
A 300 HAM'R. Let me use my ever increasing stockpile of range pickup .223 brass. I can also shoot cast bullets out of it easily.
A 338 Whisper #2. More cast bullet shooting.
Swap out the bolt head to a .308 size and make a 45 Raptor bolt gun. Any idea if it would feed from the magazine? Or would 450 Bushmaster be a safer bet?
444 Marlin is another option.
Not sure if there's anything I can do in a short action using a magnum bolt head.

300 Blackout doesn't interest me, as I have a 77/44 Silent Destroyer.
I already have enough .308 bolt rifles. So that's out.

I'm not afraid of wildcats, so toss ideas at me and people you think who could make it happen.

My gunsmith friend is saying to offer $400-425 for it.

Thanks for putting up with my daydreaming.

I'd think you could get a whole gun for that,i would probably stick with the 223 bolt head and case size to make sure feeding is simple and cheap. I would do a 6-222 6-223 6x47 believe that's the 6-223 mag. Make a nice light rifle for walking, 2-7 ish scope and be good for varmints and some deer.
