I just won a new Desert Eagle .44 mag on an auction site (got it for $925 including shipping), and I'm trying to decide what ammo to try. I plan for it to be mostly a range fun gun. I've read elsewhere that I should use only jacketed bullets, preferably ones where the jacket covers the base, to prevent lead from plugging the gas port. Also supposedly the DE may not function properly if the load you use is less than full-powered. I'm considering trying Miwall's 240gr TMJ ammo, but I've read where it's tends to be loaded light. I like the TMJ idea, keeping the lead completely enclosed. I don't need a HP for range use, and the Miwall seems to have a good reputation, and is cheap.

Can the DE be adjusted for different power ammo? Also, can I buy Miwall ammo other than through Outdoor Marksman? Their Westcoast warehouse has plenty of the ammo, but the Eastcoast warehouse is out, and is a lot closer to me.

Thanks, Lou

Miwall sells a new ammo thatsa jacketed hollow point and they claim to be +P+ rated.

I know there is no SAAMI spec for 44 mag+P+ but it's hot and runs DEs quite well

I don't have one, but a shooting buddy does and from what I've experienced, the DE loves HOT ammo...the hotter the better.
Congrats on the win!
