It appears that I am way in the minority. I carry a Case medium stockman and or a SAK

Negative. The classic stockman is a perennial favorite. Although I do carry my oso sweet daily dress to the office (i like the pocket clip), my primary go-to whenever I do work or am outdoors is a 60’s or 70’s Western 742 stockman. Tough, tough knife that won’t quit!

Nothing wrong with either of those two choices. Way back in the "good ol' days" I use to carry a Case Stockman or some type of a SAK. Over the years I found having a folder (usually with a partially serrated blade), more useful at times when I had to cut something and pretty much have gone with that ever since.

Benchmade 940 Osborne (3.4" blade) Very lightweight, quick out! Right side pants pocket. Of course, a Glock 19 is also there every day. Just ordered a lightweight, bright red rescue blade, with strap cutter, and a window breaker on the end.
Will replace my $265.00 Osbourne in the pocket. I would cry if I lost that AXIS lock beauty!

Spiderco Paramilitary 2. It’s the knife that caused me to stop buying knives. I occasionally carried a small stockman or peanut if I needed to use a knife around the office for something.

Right now I'm carrying a Cold Steel Voyager XL clip point. I like that thing a lot.
A couple of years ago, I got a Cold Steel Recon 1 just to see how it was, ended up loving it. Fell out of my pocket into a lake while kayaking with my fiance last year. She got me Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter for my birthday a few months later and I love that thing even more. Just used it last night to cut up a bunch of carpet we were taking out of the girl's rooms. They make good knives, at least the ones that I've had.

Spyderco Delica (2.8 inch) is my go-to folder, although I've been thinking about upsizing to the Endura (3.75 in) for EDC.

I usually carry a Kershaw Blacked Out. It is an assisted opening folder with a liner lock & a pocket clip. I found it on a job site. It was hanging from a ceiling wire by the pocket clip. I asked around & no one claimed it. That is the knife I voted for in the poll. I like a knife that is easy to manipulate with one hand in the 3"-4" range of blade length.

I didn't vote for the second one but if I dress up & do not want a clip on my knife I have a Case Trapper with 2 blades I carry.

Should have made the lists multi-select. I have a half dozen knives in regular rotation. What I carry depends on the situation, clothing, etc. Today I am carrying a smaller Benchmade with axis lock because it's prettier and after this call I'll drive to Indiana for 2 days of meetings dressed like a respectable person. Etc.

So, size and lock style vary from day to day.

Never fixed blade though.

Today I have a silly little Chinese Camillus. It was on clearance for $3 at Walmart. I think the most I've ever asked from it was to clear a spent shotgun hull from a gun. But it's been a good little beater knife for minor stuff (box opening, nail cleaning, etc) and has stayed pretty sharp. No complaints here.

Benchmade Armed Forces Only Auto and a 511 straight blade on duty.
Spyderco Police off duty

  • leatherman blast, has 3 different sizes of flat head screwdrivers that are good at the range
  • gerber eab lite (in a zippo holster, lost 2 that were clipped in a pocket), good for cutting cord/boxes/etc w/o dulling a good blade, quick to get out one handed
  • sak classic
