How many attackers do you anticipate?

Ideally we won't have to defend ourselves with our guns but if we do, how many non-terrorist attackers will there be?
In other words - How many bad guys work together in your area?

My immediate neighborhood is peaceful and secure so the most likely attack I'll encounter will be outside the home. Maybe the mall parking lot or a convenience store. The most likely number of attackers is 2. How about you?

edited to include the following:
Folks talk about caliber, handgun type, amount of ammo, etc. There is an enemy type and number in mind. A CCW implies the ability of dealing with a threat of some type.

Choices of caliber, ammo amount, bullet type hinge on what you believe is the most likely threat. This varies across the country. Granted there are all kinds of scenarios and you can't script a BG attack but what do you most often visualize when you train to deal with an attack?

What do you know about the habits or tactics of bad guys in your area? Do you have a rash of convenience store robberies by individual burned-out druggies or is a gang active in your area? Is there a pack of feral dogs in your neck of the woods or are you most in danger of a single coyote wanting to eat your poodle?

Hope this clarifies what I'm asking. If not, well what the hell, we'll keep on walking and I'll meet you on the next thread.:)

I am hoping it will be zero. You really can't tell as all situations vary. Attacks are all different and so very personal. Numbers will vary.

I am hoping to be attacked by the Swedish Women's Skiing team.
I am hoping in that event that the number will be many more than seven! Lock and Load!:D

Based on twoblink's recent postings of robbery and subsequent observation of 'teams' working in his area, I'm guessing 2.

Whether there are 1 or 7 or more, if they bust a move, i'm gonna have a flying metal present for each and every one of them. :fire:

(Unless of course they do a runner after ive fired the first few shots... then i'll leave them to it.)

A woman might be attacked by just one guy. Generally, it's rare for one Bad Guy to jump an adult male, unless the target is pretty wimpy-looking.

For me by myself, then, I would only expect danger from two or more--as a generality. If I'm with my wife, they're in greater trouble, since she has much less tolerance for fools. :) (Can't help it; I gotta add, "since she's not a Moderator." :D Sorry.)

I thought it was common knowledge that perps always work in groups of three or more? Generally, one as lookout, one to distract and one (or more) to flank.

Based on that fact alone, you should always be prepared to defend yourself against three or more attackers, otherwise you'll quickly find yourself taken by surprise.

Multiple targets are always harder than a singular one. So for training purposes, I work off the assumption I would be faced w/ multible BG's

triggertime, you're probably right, although I'd think a lookout would not be likely to be up close and personal. Regrdless, I practice like 10-ring on multiple targets. My pistol range has six targets, and I work from all manner of angles and distances.

I prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
Since I have professional associations that can result in needing to shoot large groups of people, I carry an abundance of ammo. ;)
Also a shotgun. :D

One guy, from inside of 10 feet.

That is not to say that one should ignore the possibilty that there may be more at varying distances.

I'm guessing between 2 and 4. Because most people feel "braver" with someone else, I'll say that it will be most lively not be a single attacker. Because most BGs are prob not social animals, I'll say not more than 4.
