So I carry a glock and AR for work every day. I have numerous guns that all have a purpose (hunting, self defence, competitive shooting etc..). For Fathers Day, my wife, son and daughter got me a Leinad 45/410 sxs 11" pistol. Pain to load, fire and unload. Impractical as any gun I've ever seen, much less own. Solid as hell but really crude. But I have to say I love it. Stupid grin always follows pulling the trigger and watching the 18" fireball kick out the front end. I guess sometimes fun overrides practicality.

So you any of you have a gun that makes no sense to own, but you would never get rid of?

Can't think of any.
If a gun makes no sense for me to own, I wouldn't own it in the first place.
And, there are no such guns that I would never get rid of.

as for ammo cost it would be my 44mag and my 44sp. love shooting but hate to pay for it lol. But i love them soooo much. makes my neighbors come down to see what im shooting,,,

.32 Ruby
got it as basically a paper weight in a trade
but I'd put it up against pretty much every 1911 I've ever held
Oh and those ammo cost, yeah tell me about it, .32 isn't much cheaper than .44

A Judge style revolver would be useless for me , but i still want to own one. Close enough.

I have no reason what so ever to own several of my firearms other than I like them and they are fun to shoot. my 480 ruger 9" SRH, 2 500 magnums, 338 lapua, 410 BFR, I could go on, but none of those fill any purpose for me personally other than to be range toys.

Wow, the Gyrojet is very cool. Looks like something Buck Rogers would use to fight off Ming the Merciless. I see the ammo costs a little more than 44 mags.:what:

I have a 20 gauge SxS that is super light and quite a healthy kicker due to the stock design. It has fixed chokes that seem like they were set as Full and Extra Full; think super tight patterns. Totally unsuited for upland game but still I get some sort of strange enjoyment every time I use it.

1911

I have two of them. Picky about ammo and magazines. They have more malfunctions and broke parts than all my other guns combined. I love how they feel in my hand and they are great Americana. I keep spending money on them because it's interesting. Not my first choice for self defense or competition.

That's interesting to me. I only have one 1911, but after a little internal polishing she's been dead-nuts reliable and NOTHING has ever broken in thousands of rounds fired of many different ammo types.
What brand are yours and how much do you shoot them, if i may ask?

Hipoint carbine.
  • Ugly
  • Cheaply made
  • No real hunting use
  • 10 round, hard to load mags with one aftermarket 15 round option which is hit or miss it seems

Fun as hell to shoot though.

Another vote for the Hi-point carbine. Lots of fun to shoot, feels really good in my hands, very accurate, very good sights. I love how compact it is.

What it does to groundhogs is outright hilarious.

A real PITA to take apart, and sometimes my beard gets pinched in the stock.

GSG-5 SD. .22 LR MP5 look-alike. It's a blast to shoot, but its not near as accurate as my dedicated Target and varmint .22s. Questionable durability in the field, and a real pain to detail strip. Also picky with ammo and trigger is unremarkable. But... it looks awesome and unloads 26 rounds in a hurry. One of those things that's not really better than anything I own already, but still puts a stupid grin on my face. In fact, as of writing this I feel like I should go shoot it. It's been a while.

.460

I got the chance to shoot a S&W .460 mag, literally a BLAST! I would love to have one, but they are very expensive, and I have no practical use for it, but still...........for stupid grin factor it's hard to beat.:)

I sold the one gun I would chacterize as stupid, the Kahr P380. The only thing the damn thing did was malfunction, even after a trip back to Kahr. Good riddance.

Ruger New Model Blackhawk, in 30 Carbine. No real "practical" use for it, but the fireball from the muzzle is just so much fun.
