What's the most obscure handgun you've ever carried?

Star PD Obscure?

The Star PD does not count as an obscure or unusual carry piece. It was the first compact 45 and at one time had quite a cult following. There are still people looking for them, but I ain't selling mine.

NAA 22 S as a tertiary bug - just because. It is semiobscure as they don't make many of them.

Hope someone will---

read my long drawn out Jennings post at the bottom of page 6. I know I skipped about 50 posts. (I'll be your best friend) Please??---Fastball

But, but,---

I said I'd be your best friend. Won't beer do?? I do owe you a couple of those.:) Thanks, I mean, really, thanks.----Tom

Not too strange, but I carry a fullsize Jericho in 9mm every day. Most people have NO idea what it is. :)

I'm really suprised as to the number of people who've carried a TT-33! I've always wanted one for a historical peice, and they're so small for a fullsize pistol, especaily in frame hight. I'd love to try ankle carry with with one, just because I can. :p

I carried a Webley-Forsberry automatic revolver in .455 MK II for a time...

A great conversation piece... and maybe not so bad for defense... the old .455 had a good reputation as a man-stopper.

I figured if I had to use it, I could take the ED out while he was laughing at my gun.

FWIW

Crownvicman,

Where did you get the replica of a British Navy flintlock? I'd like to get one if I can do it without spending too much money.

And as for the Webley-Forsberry, what do those things sell for these days? I know there was a time when they had some popularity for target shooting.

That'd be either the Bernardelli M60 in .380 that I had about thirty years ago. Or the Star M43 in 9x19 that I often carry now:->

RAP 401 in 9mm. I've talked about it a bunch, so maybe it's not so obscure, but worthwhile plugging again here. Heavy as a rock, reliable as anything I've ever handled. Accurate enough to hit the broad side of a barn, provided the barn is large and hopefully red too.

I've carried a few rather odd but not obscure weapons.

Action Arms AT-84S (Swiss copy of the CZ-75 )

PA-63

S&W Mdl 29 with a 6 inch barrel ( in South Florida no less )

Nazi Walther PP

Smith & Wesson obscure?

I carried a Smith 547 9mm. The 3" round butt they made for the frog police. I still have it. NO, I don't want to sell it.

I also carried a Beretta 1934 in 32acp. It came with 2 mags and after much polishing and throating, it functioned flawlessly with Silvertips.

As God and my best friend as a witness, I could consistently hit the center of a paper plate at 40yds.

Neat little gun. It died as a result of a squib cycling the slide and having another round fired after it. May It RIP.

:)

This is easy, I prefer standard type pistols. But a 5" 1911 in .357 Magnum, known as a Coonan .357 Magnum Automatic, in Sparks SS2, dbl mag pouch, and belt, was comforting to us every time. (I worked a bit of overtime for all that gear and it was worth every penny.) That is also most often the most accurate pistol in my hands ever!

Absolutely a great 5" steel 1911. Smooth shooting, reliable, and very accurate. And with full power .357 maggies too. Did I say these are great shooters?? I wish they were still being made.

Unfortunately, mags & some parts are difficult to locate these days, and I retired it in favor of something with easier to loacte spares.

Obscure Handgun

On a lark, one night last winter while walking the dog, I tucked a 5 1/2" Colt Cowboy in my belt, just to see the look on the face of any BGs who might accost me. None showed. Never carried it again. It's just a fun at the range gun. Haven't gotten into Cowboy action shooting yet. :neener:
