What's the most obscure handgun you've ever carried?

Most obscure...

Probably my Davis Derringer...22 magnum. Just dropped it in my jeans pocket right before I walked to WAWA in my old neighborhood ( NE Philly )

Hey Bill...speaking of CAS...you got a rig for that "cowboy" yet !?

I carried my PA-63 for almost a year at work when it was my only gun, and another later when it was still my lightest gun.

My primary car gun is a Daiwoo dp 51 (not really obscure, but not common either)

When I was first hiking through the Big Bend about 11 years ago, I carried a 1908 Pocket Hammerless .380 all over the place in the pocket of my blue jeans.

A few times I've found myself wondering around with a 1917. (One should never look for trouble, but if it had to come, why couldn't it be when I had that pistol?)

I've carried a WWII era commercial Colt 1911 on duty for several weeks in 2001.

I forgot the circumstances that called for carrying it...

But I packed a 1912 Steyr-Hahn for a few days, complete with a couple stripper clips of 9mm Steyr. ;)

At the last local gun show, I picked up a black cordura thigh holster rig for my Desert Eagle. The Mall Ninja's got nothing on me. :D

Well, for reasons still unclear to me I wound up packing an Astra model 900(broomhandle mauser copy) loaded with 7.62 Tokarev(not mauser, which it was chambered for) ammo for a few weeks. Had extra ammo on stripper clips. :D

That was a pretty bizarre combination. It would actually fire the ammo, but it made quite a boisterous BOOM! :what:

It would have been a nice collectable gun except for the abysmal condition(NRA fair at best), rust, pitting, hardly any rifling left. :(

Ahh, youth. That and a buck fifty will get you a cup of coffee... ;)

That's a pretty hunk of leather Hunter. It's got style.

If you get bored, could you take another picture with a more "normal" handgun and similar holster (if you have one) in it for proportion? I'm trying to figure out how much of my hip that would cover. :D

Well

Mauser 1910, astra 3000, beretta 1935, savage 1913 (not sure about year),c96, .45 single shot liberator, M11/9smg, full size UZI in secret service shoulder holster.

Forgot, 1st gen SAA, radom, sig 210, colt thunderer, 1911 made in 1912, 12g cane gun.

Wow, Han Solo eat your heart out.

I knew a Scoutmaster once that carried a Colt Patterson replica under his serape, of course he was also packing an Indian "blanket gun." That's a smooth bore trade musket, shortened fore and aft and filled with shot.

Dr. Rob,

Would that have been the iconic "Scoutmaster with No Name?"

Hunter,

Thanks. I think it will make a neat side by side comparison.

Most obscure

Tossup between U.S. Revolver Co. hammerless top-break .38 S&W, and a .32 ACP Ortgies. I would not admit to the latter if using my real name. Most .32 autos have the virtue of reliabillity (not in results of shooting, but in going off when the trigger is pulled). In the experience I gradually gained, the Ortgies didn't even have that.

I have carried my Sig 210-6 a few times. Just because it was dirty and I needed a carry gun. Most of the rest of mine are to tame for obscurity.

Hard chromed CZ-52 for me loaded up with Magsafe Tok ammo to lessen the chance of overpenetration. I didn't carry this pistol for long since it's so friggen huge. But I would pity the fool who was on the receiving end of that combo. Yowza. :what:

ohhhhhhh boy...

mab p15 9mm , m1911a1c 7.62x25 / 30 mauser , others i'll have to think about...

hmm...

The Statute of Limitations applies here (I hope.)

Back in high school I rode around in my Jeep Cherokee with a max loaded but unprimed CVA .50 caliber pistol under the seat with an inline capper tied to it. I figured that if I needed more than one shot, (I was rather good with it) my tomahawk and knife would come out... I had a flare gun an a dozen flares in the back too, but I couldn't hit myself with it if I tried.

I also carried a .44 caliber 1858 Remington cap'n ball on camping trips with my friends back then... good times.

In my legal days I've toted a Norinco Tokarev in 9mm, a Star Modelo Super in 9mm Largo, and other rather pedestrian stuff... Glocks, 1911's S&Ws, ect...

What I Want though is either a reproduction S&W New Model No. 3 in .44 Russian or a Webley .455 Mk IV. I'd carry either one of those proudly.

A long time ago, in a place far, far away, I once caried a .22 short, 7-shot derringer, nickled, rosewood grips, with "You Bet" stamped ont he top of the barrel. I've upgraded considerably since then.

Someone I know uses/used a Sauer mod 1914 I think, a very early design semi auto in 32acp for HD. I've used an odd one for carry from time to time at an informal range or for defense if on vacation and I brought an odd or new gun to show a friend or take shooting on the way there or back. My motel defense gun on a recent trip was a 32H&R mag Ruger single six and backup last time to a Taurus PT92 was a S&W 422 22lr autoloader, it has a bit of an odd apperance.

My friend has not seen my newly acquired 1932 vintage British Enfield revolver in 38/200 so that might be the next weird one to be employed.
