Where are reloading components available (Not a Discussion Thread)

Recobs still has 8lb 700x and 4lb power pistol. I had them in the cart, but I threw them back in, I am still doing ok with those two powders.

I have not seen AA#5 for a LONG time.

I appreciate the vendor's who have held the line on prices and I will make sure to purchase from them far into the future. I figure I have 30 years more of handloading unless the zombies get me.....

SwaneeSR,
Are you talking about your local vendors or online vendors?
Of the 4 gunshops/sporting goods stores locally, 2 are now my "go to"'stores for powder/reloading supplies.

For guns, I have 1 small LGS that will beat any price on guns, locally or interweb.
(I try to make sure he makes a profit, it's a 1 man operation)
Of course, I've known the owner for 20 years:D

Would be nice to have a thread identifying those online vendors that did hold the line on prices.
Recobs & Powder Valley come to mind.
Any others?
Unless there is one?

Well jell-dog I was referring to both online and the local shops.

Powder Valley and Recobs are the two you mentioned online and they are at the top of the list for online.

My LGS has been hit or miss lately (mostly miss right now, like again tonight), but I give them credit when stuff does come in it is about 18.99 per lb for most pistol powders and $25.99 per lb for rifle such as IMR 4350.

This is The High Road, so I want to keep this positive. Also, this is the USA, and I understand supply and demand. But if a vendor has held the line on prices, they deserve my business and I would like to show them they earned my long-term business.

Pistol powder hasn't been below $22.00/lb at any of my LGS's for last 2-3 years.
And they all have all raised their prices to average of $25/$26 per pound over the last year.
I have been buying from online vendors, after all, even with hazmat and shipping I pay less.
Downside, you need to buy enough to make it worth while.

BTW, anyone know of this powder? The website is Hi-Tech Ammunition.

In a pinch, will it perform well?
Those are the Maxxam powwders. I think CSB-1 and CSB-5 are floating around the US these days.

They're spanish (?) shotgun powders
From what I can find, they seem like good powders. although there's still some work to be done for load data it can be found on various forums.

From what I've gathered. the CSB-1 stuff is pretty close to Universal clays, and the CSB-5 is pretty close to clay dot

I would not hold it against a LGS for selling pistol powder $25 per. The ones I don't like are the ones > $30. One vendor at the local guns shows has been $40 for Bullseye.

In stock at Recobs

BE-86 1# bottles
700x 4# jugs
Power Pistol 1# and 4# jugs.

I managed to snag some PP. Yay!!!

So it's >24 hours later and the Power Pistol is still in stock in both 4 lbs ($16.x/lb) and 1 lbs ($18.x/lb).

How good of a sign for general availability of pistol powder is this? Is this something that has happened with a popular pistol powder from a popular/good online retailer anytime recently?

Toprudder,
I don't hold it against them, they need to make a profit like any other business, and I would say in the climate they are selling in it is tough.

I still buy @ $25/$28/lb locally, as the 2 LGS's I support have excalant customer service, and occasionally have CCI or Winchester primers @ $2-$3 less than online, along with other ok

Among other things, they both have a good variety of reloading equipment and components (other than powder) onhand.

Special ordered parts you don't need fast go on their stock order, no shipping charge!

I value LGS's, and support them whenever I can, afterall, they are local businesses, I like to support them to keep them here.

Yup, still got it, and even with hazmat and shipping, buying the limit of 4 its around 28 per pound. One could throw some primers or other powders in to soften it further. Still mocking me. They will be out when my play money is back....

I dropped ~$300 at Recobs (4 1# BE-86, 1 4# 700x, 3k SPP, 1k LRP) yesterday after trying mightily to resist the urge for 2 days. I kept checking back and it kept being available for purchase ... until I could resist no longer ... <sigh>

:)
Same here. I picked up 14 lbs of powder, BE-86 and Power Pistol - two of my favs. This is the first chance I've had to pick up Power Pistol in almost two years.

Now I just need to stock up on bullets. :)

Toprudder: I was in The Gun Rack in Kernersville today and they had about any pistol powder you could want, incl Bullseye for about $21 lb. Alliant, Hodgson, IMR, Winchester, etc. They had some large cans too but I didn't pay a lot of attention to them.

This morning Widners has 8lbs of TAC for $149 + shipping /hazmat

My LGS all want about $30 a pound for powder. A bit high but I don't begrudge them to right to make a profit.
Most of them are small "Mom + Pop" stores so they have higher overhead.
NOw $35+ a pound is gougeing IMO. (VV powders excepted)

Recobs has the following in stock:

Universal, 8 lb. limit of 1.
BE-86, 1 lb limit of 4, and 8 lb limit of 1.
Power Pistol, 1 lb limit of 10, and 4 lb limit of 2.
Unique, 1 lb., limit of 10.

They had HP38 in 8lb containers for a short time but it is already gone.

All I have to do is run out of play money and 8 pounders of HP-38 appear like magic. Fortunately, I have a pretty good stash of HP-38 right now...but never pass on 8 pounders I really like.

I am waiting for someone to have a one pounder of BE-86 and a four pounder of something I need, or will need soon, to spread the hazmat out. Maybe buy 2 or 3K of primers as well if the price is decent, to help spread it out more. Prices have to be right though.

Just bought 23 lbs of handgun powder online today and last week at my LGS, I bought 13 lbs of handgun powder.
