Obviously, this question is aimed more ath the gentlemen among us, as the ladies have the purse option that isn't available to me, without severe harassment at least.
Anyways, I just got back to the office after a meeting, and a stop at a convenience store. Anyways, I was carrying my Glock 19 in an OWB holster (paddle), strong side, about 4-4:30 on my hip, as usual when carrying on the belt. So, I go to take out my wallet, which at the time was in the strong side back pocket, and I couldn't get it out. The holster was blocking the opening of the holster. So, here I am, standing in the back of the store, wrestling with the walet, trying to slide the holster around my hip, while not looking like I'm trying to draw, having a fit, or committing a lewd act. Finally, set down the paper and bottle of Pepsi, retreat to the bathroom, extract the wallet after removing the holster, readjust everything, and make my purchases.
Now, as I sit here, I realize I have a problem. I have always carried both wallet and holster strong side, because I could easliy protect and cover both the gun and the wallet against snatching. Plus, I have carried my wallet strong side for about 20 years now. It feels weird to have on the weak side, plus I am now concerned about having to protect both sides against snatching. I would try a front pocket carry, but I've got enough stuff in those already, between keys, knives, LED light, etc.
At the same time, I know I cannot continue to carry strong side, at least while carrying a weapon at the belt. If I ever need to show ID to an officer, I'll end up having to reach in the area of my weapon, which is not good.
Help me out guys. Am I stuck learning to live with the weak side, or do you have other ideas?
