I had a line on a K-31 just last night. Before I was going to buy it I asked someone who is an expert in Military surplus firearms whether he would buy a K31 or a Mauser K98. He highly recommended the K31.

But someone must have tapped my phone because I just called the seller and he sold it this morning. Just an hour ago! Some shmuck showed up within twelve hours of that rifle being offered and bought it!

So I'm a little pissed. But I still want one of these rifles. I can't find them online. Classicarms.us didn't have one. AIM Surplus does but it's $350! The one I was offered was $220! J&G want over $400 for they're K-31's!!! You can buy used PSL's for that! Heck, you could buy two or three Lee-Enfields for that!

I was pissed before, I'm mad now. Someone, SOMEWHERE, must be selling these rifles for under $300. I know they're good, but come on! $400 for a SURPLUS rifle? One that I'll probably have to reload for to use?

Tell me you guys know of a dealer or private seller that has these for under $300. There has to be one. Somewhere.

Aimsuplus has K11s not K31s.
You should have bought a K31 when they first started showing up. I paid 94 and some change for mine at Big 5.

Really? Someone bought an advertised gun while you were dallying about because you apparently hadn't done your research beforehand.

K-31s have been around at reasonable prices for quite a few years ... you snooze, you lose - instead of being pissed, wake up a little, pay attention to the markets and forums like this one where such guns are regularly discussed. Numerous posters have extolled the virtues of the K-31 for years.

Canuck,

It had been less than twelve hours after the guy posted the rifle! IT WAS NIGHT. He posted it at twelve twenty three A.M.! I responded only ten minutes after than. I went to sleep after asking a question to a good expert. Woke up, checked this morning, and it was gone!

In under twelve hours! 3/4 of those hours, normal people are usually sleeping! I admit, I did snooze, in fact, I bet 80% of Americans were. Save this guy, he showed up and woke the seller up by repeatedly calling the guys cell-phone. This man was livid for one of these. Most people don't treat K-31's like crack-cocaine!

Life can be worse ... try catching a Swedish Mauser when one comes up at a good price - 1 am or anytime! You're likely to be 4th in line at any time of the day.

BTW, a good price is now north of $400 ... for a milsurp.

I got my K-31s but not yet a Swede.

Do they appear at gun shows in your area?

In today's economy you might see one on somebody's shoulder, if not on a table.
At our modest show Sept 19th, guys carried on their shoulders two LEs, a nice Yugo Mauser, just in a two-hour period around noon.

Have you listed "Want To Buy" K-31 at 'Gunandgame', 'Gunboards', 'Surplusrifle'
(top of the page:'forums'), 'Milsurpshooter.net' etc?

If you live near a large city, a FTF might work well, and you don't need to trust photos. With so many listed on-line, you will find, with patience, a very good one. For some of us price is not as important as condition.

I just called the local Dunham's, and they don't have K31s, but they have a wide selection of Mausers including a Yugo M24/47 for $239... I'm a bit out of the loop on prices right now, but from what I remember, that's not a bad price.

I'm still looking for K31s... I have 3 now, but I just can't get enough of them, and I want more for hunting and range time... I have 1 to keep original, 1 to free float and scope for hunting, and 1 to restore to original issue quality.... yeah, I have a lot I want to do with K31s... I have like 5 Yugo SKSs too... in case anyone wants to trade a K31 for a Yugo. =)

I finally got one in beech stock in VG stock with excellent bore at a good price locally. I had my unissued Yugo SKS on trade here for K 31 and also for sale. NO one responded so i looked in gunbroker and found one who happens to be close by. Lucky i did bec he sold it for a good price.

Now yesterday someone finally contacted me on my Yugo SKS. Strange really, u never know who wants this and that. THats the nice thing about this hobby.

Careful, when ya buy em from the big internet houses you get what they pick. If what ever company you deal with offers the hand-pick option for an extra $50 or so, take it. And yes I've learned my lesson about striking when the iron is hot. Only one person to be pissed at. Look in the mirror. Thats why I always keep a cash stash handy. Deal presents, I JUMP, NOW! :)
