Which .22LR Revolver

I would be much more open to buying a Taurus Tracker if it didn't have the gigantic "TRACKER" billboard on the barrel.

I was (well, still am) in the same situation as the OP. I gave up on the double actions and gave in to a wonderful Single Six.

If Taurus is a crap shoot, I won with my first toss. Picked up a NIB blued .22 Tracker several years ago on sale for about $215. The trigger was much better then my older S&W 617/no dash in both SA/DA. After about a year of the S&W not leaving the safe I opened the action and smoothed all the internals. Spent about 4 hours on the process and now the trigger is as nice as any I’ve tried and in turn now the Taurus sits in the safe waiting for my son to come of age.

In short, if money is limited don’t over look the Tracker I think they’re a heck of a bargain.

S&w 22

Try to shop around for a good S&W model 18 or K-22. The price might be a little more than a new Taurus but the quality of the older S&W 22s can not be beaten, in my opinion. Also try gunbroker.com or gunshows as well. Good luck to you and may you find a nice one. Sincerely snooperman

I owned a Taurus once. I don't own it any more, and I didn't own it for long (less than a month, as I recall). I still own a number of Ruger revolvers, a couple of S&W revolvers, a couple of fine Colt revolvers, as well as a beautiful old Remington and even an Iver Johnson top-break .32. But I don't own a Taurus any more.

There are lots of choices are out there from a number of fine manufacturers. Find a quality gun that fits your hand and eye, even if it's not brand new, and go with it.

I have 2 -- a Taurus mod 94 and a S&W mod 17-2. The Smith is definitely the nicer of the 2. But if you can live w/ the lesser fit quality, the poorer sights and a crappy trigger, the Taurus would work too ;)

Hmm... I have made the same mistake you are about to make!!!

...Save up until you can afford a used S&W Model 17 (K-22)...

You will not regret the decision,
