Which Beretta would you choose, and why?

Do you have a source for this? It would definitely be worth waiting for!
As far as the G conversion goes, the rumors are that the conversion is NOT going to be cheap. Possibly as expensive as the Wilson version.
I don't think $55 is too expensive...only $49 if you buy two. http://www.berettausa.com/en-us/beretta-g-lever-kit/

Rumor has it that they will be available next Tuesday

I have the 96, but only because it took it to settle a debt. I periodically look around for a 92 slide to put on top of it. The 96 frame will feed 9mm, the 92 frame won't feed .40...that is why the old 92/96 Combo set came with a 96 frame.

If you're reloading .40 anyway, you can load light enough to reduce battering the frame. I've been shooting 165gr Xtreme bullet over 3.5gr of Clays and it is very soft shooting

That's great news! There was some speculation from a Beretta factory guy on the Beretta forum that it was going to be much more expensive.

Awesome, thanks! I know what will be my first modification!

If you plan to carry it, consider a 92 Compact L. Especially one of the Italian ones that are available now, as they don't have the rail. Roughly same size as a Glock 19, it's my 2nd fav EDC gun. Everything you like about a 92FS, but you don't need a thigh rig to carry it.

I had a 92A1 and foolishly sold it. It was my most accurate 9mm, better than my P226 or G34. Last week I lucked out and was able to get another 92A1 and love it for the ability to change front and rear sights, and it has a rail. Love the heft, the weight of it, this adds to accurate results. But... I also do love my PX4 9mm, very accurate for a 4" 9mm, and very easy to rack the slide. But because of it's lighter weight and shorter sight radius, it isn't quite as accurate as the 92A1.

A guy on Berettaforum produced 2" 50 yard groups using a 92A1 and a Ransom rest. They are very accurate guns. I've shot sub 2" groups at 25 yards from a crude bench rest.

I have a 96a1 and 92 Compact. Also carried a M9 in the Army here and there so I have pretty extensive experience with them. IMO the 96A1 is one of the sweetest pistols I have ever owned. Don't get me wrong, I really like the 92 Compact also but the 96A1 edges it out.

I already made the choice to buy a 92 FS a quarter century ago.

Why?

Because I loved how it looked...and the fact that is was a Beretta.

It's a beautiful gun, feels great in my hand, accurate and smooth in operation.

And 9mm is cheap.

The .40? not a clue...never shot a .40.

That's not very High Road :D. Since I am still about a month away from getting mine, hopefully they will be back in stock then. But thanks VERY MUCH for the link.

You could buy a 96 and then a 9mm barrel and effectively have both options. I don't know if that works with the 96A1, but you can read on
http://berettaforum.net/vb/
that there have been plenty of "96/92" conversions with just the barrel swap. You don't even have to buy new magazines.

I greatly enjoy my late 90's 9mm Brigadier and early 90's SB Compact Type M (8 rd single stack). Most 92FS leather holsters quickly mold to the Brigadier's slide contour. I refuse any 92 series with plastic components (besides grips).
