Which gun company do YOU love?

I have had quite a few Rugers over the years, and have never had any problems with them. As far as accessory/supplies companies I have had great luck with Natchez SS, and Gamaliels. I have bought from Natchez in the past, and they were good. I recently ordered some reloading components from them, and they shipped out same day and got to my house 2 days later. Same thing with Gamaliels. I ordered for the first time from them, and the package got here 3 days later. I have bought from Wiedners once so far, and shipping took 3-4 weeks from the date I ordered. Same basic stuff from there as Natchez and Gamaliel, just a lot longer wait.

Natchez, Midway, AIM, S&W, CDNN, and Springfield to name a few

I just wish CDNN wasn't in Texas so I didn't have to pay tax...

+1 Springfield Armory. Larue and Midway also feel the love. Springfield just makes products I can't live without, Larue sent me free stickers, a Dillo beverage accessory, a hat, a bag, and Dillo spicy BBQ rub along with top-notch products and a Christmas card! Midway jusy has ridiculously fast shipping and a huge selection.

Springfield Armory. Here's why:

A couple of years ago, I bought an low number M1A Super Match from a co-worker for what I though was a steal. I was going over everything and checking all parts to see which were USGI. When I got to the bolt, I could not make sense of the markings so I called SA to ask them about them. They told me that the bolt may be under warranty (they had problems with some of their cast bolts and had a recall that started back in the 1990's).

A digital pic was sent to them and they confirmed that it indeed was covered under warranty. So, off to SA goes my my Super Match. About 4 weeks passes and I get a call from Mr. Dale Rader who runs their custom shop. Mr. Rader begins to apologize and explains that they had misplaced my rifle and that they were just starting to work on it.

When I sent it in, I had included a note requesting that they replace my bolt with a USGI one, so I asked him if that would be possible. He said "no problem, we're installing a Winchester for you". :D

He then says that the rifle is going to require a "little more work". So now I'm wondering what it needs and what it's going to cost me (M1 A parts aren't cheap).

He explains that they could not get the rifle to headspace properly and that it will need a NEW MATCH BARREL(OUCH! I'm thinking..... this is going to cost me big time). Then he tells me that they need to modify the receiver a bit when they install the bolt and that it will have to be COMPLETELY REFINISHED (now I'm really thinking I'm going to get slammed financially and that maybe I didn't get such a great deal on the rifle afterall.)

So, at this point I ask him how much all of this is going to cost. His reply: "Nothing, it's covered under Sprinfield's Lifetime Warranty". "We'll ship it back to you on our dime in a couple of days".

Me: "let me go over this again real quick.... you're going to install a USGI Winchester bolt, a brand new Heavy Match barrel and completely refinish my rifle and it's going to cost me nothing, not even freight to ship the gun back?"

Mr. Rader: "Yup"

I got it back about five days later and it looked brand new. I almost feel guilty about it to this day.

Folks, when Springfield says that their warranty is "lifetime" they really mean it. That rifle had at least two previous owners before I got it. By my count, the parts and labor that went into my rifle would have cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $900.00 if they were not covered under warranty.

Needless to say, I am a fan of Springfield Armory!

In practice, it may be a lifetime warranty. But it clearly states on their warranty information and if you call and ask them, the lifetime warranty is for the original owner only.

I called them about when I briefly owned a used EMP that I was having issues with. The woman I spoke to did say they weren't too picky about verifying who the original owner was like requiring a bill of sale, but she did reiterate the lifetime warranty was only for the original owner. So I guess if push came to shove, they have that to fall back on.

Colt, I lost the rear sight windage screww on my ols Colt 22 Targetsman eliason sight, they told me that they had a complete rear sight but if the sold me the 3 step screw that they couldn't sell the only old eliason sight but would let me have it all for $35.00 shipped, I said thanks but if I could afford it later I would call, 20 minutes later they called me to say that I had a great 50s 22 auto, 15 minutes later they called for my address and said the rear sight complete would be to me in 2 days, no charge, thanks Colt.:)

I like the companies below for their combination of products and service. In no particular order:

Brownells
CZ Custom/Ghost Holster (Angus Hobdell)
Milt Sparks
Mika (pocket holster maker)
Midway
Smith & Wesson
Glockmeister
Cabela's (spent many hours in the Glendale, AZ retail store as well as ordering online)

Springfield Armory. Never had any problem with any springfield weapons that I own. Dave's Guns Nine Mile Falls, WA. Absolutely the best customer service and the best order tracking system.

Lovables include . . .

Midsouth Shooters Supply, Midway USA, Ruger, and Remington Arms. Merely through my experiences these are each great companies destined to remain in business to serve us all. Swift bullet Company also is beyond peer, as is Barnes bullet Manufacturing. Noslers have never left me cold, and Hornady is a honey. Buying American always works for me, as with my fabulous Burris Signature Select scope. Sierra bullets also work great, offering top-quality accuracy. Currently, my Diana from Germany is a top-notch air rifle. American manufacturers of air rifles need some German expertise quickly. Just my humble opinions regarding air and firepower, which are NOT the same thing by any stretch of the imagination. I'd challenge my .223 Remington in ANY contest against any available air rifle for long-range accuracy. An air rifle is NOT a centerfire firearm by any standards. cliffy

Another Midway USA fan here. Their prices aren't always the best around, but their customer service is second to none. I place several large orders with them a year and will continue to do so.

Ruger's customer service was prompt, free, and high quality, but the fact that I needed service on a new handgun (Ruger New Vaquero, finish problem) kind of tarnished their rep. a bit in my eyes.

Also, Marlin has my love for making the most fun and accurate carbine it has ever been my pleasure to own; an 1894 Cowboy Limited, .45 Colt. If I could only have one firearm, that would be it.

In memoriam....

Some companies that have passed on:
I'm very fond of the old Harrington & Richardson company. Their stuff worked while being affordable. Whitney, too, with their Wolverine (not the new one!) Then, there's Star; I love my MOD 30MI. Iver Johnson's another one, with their pocket pistols.

Fella's;

Mine include the predictable Leupold and Dillon. However, H&K is right up there too. Others may bad-mouth H&K all they wish, but my personal experience has been that they make a fine product & provide the service for it that they should.

Henry Repeating Arms. When my daughter bought her lever-action .22, I checked out their website, and learned their story. You have to admire them.

I've found HOLSTER MAKERS to be incredibly kind and professional, generally due to the fact that they are start-ups who were burned by holster makers who couldn't or wouldn't make something the way they wanted it made.

Comp-Tac (Free Candy!)
Alessi
Robert Mika
Etc.

I like my Savage rifles for the great reliabilty and accuracy they provide at a very reasonable price.

I also like Barrett firearms even though I do not own one. I have a good friend that personally knows Ronnie Barrett and I wouldn't mind meeting him and touring their facility which isn't too far from me.

None.:p
They're in business to make money and no matter how much you love them, they are still in business to make money.
Guess I'm too damned old an cynical. :)

Springfield Armory is tops from personal experience.

Midway USA is also tops.

I have just purchased a Dillon press because of another top notch company.

Graf's reloading has always treated me well and I've always received first rate customer service from them. A guy there reccommended Dillon because of their reputation and he said he personally had a bushing wear out on a Dillon press after 20 years....so they mailed him a new one just for asking.

I haven't had any problems so far. It looks like I'll probably have to wait awhile for my Dillon press to break so I can experience their customer service in person.

So there's my input: Springfield Armory, Midway, Graf's, and Dillon.
