Which polymer 45

I have the XD Sub in 9mm and the XD Compact 45 and love them both. I use the 9mm for EDC and the 45 with a light is my bedside gun. I really like shooting the 45. Obviously YMDV......surprised however.

I love polymer guns. I love 45s. I have never met a polymer 45 that j liked. To me, polymer and alloy = 9 and 40, 45 is for the 1911

Sour, no one more surprised than me that I wasn't that good shooting the XD45 and it didn't feel as good as the glock. That said it's my second favorite.

G_one, I like my 1911 a lot. I don't think it would be my ideal carry piece when the zombies come, however. It's too hard to take down and would not tolerate dirt and mud and sand as well as a Glock, at least that's my best guess in the short term. That said its way sexier than the Glock for sure. :)

Even if I could, I would not buy wood grips for my Glock, but I have 3 grip sets for the 1911. Why play dress up with a Glock when you can with a 1911 and make something that started out sexy look even more sexy??

Note: I realize you can't put wood grips on a Glock. I meant that metaphorically.

Best polymer .45? You need look no further than a HK45 (or 45c) with LEM trigger.

I can definitely agree on the hk45(c), but for that price it better be the best polymer 45. It's for sure the most expensive except for the larger predecessor socom pistol.

If you want a 45 that's a reliable tool then get a glock 21.There not pretty like a 1911 but they are a workhorse for a reason.

Miles, I think I've settled on a 21sf or 30sf. Will rent both again to narrow it down.

Thanks to everyone for their awesome feedback.

Yes $1000 for a polymer pistol to me is excessive IMHO. But you will however get a top of the line quality product that holds it's value. Let's face it, you will also pay for the name HK on the gun. This goes for everything in the world we live in not just guns. I have a used usp45 that I got for $650 years ago and thought that was deal I couldn't pass up as I know I will probably be able to sell it for that or use it for some good trade bait if the urge ever occurs. Doesn't the $1000 hk45 do anything better than the cheaper counter parts? Maybe, maybe not? But it is a hk45 with its own uniqueness. I would definitely own one if I could get one in the $700 range, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. To me no pistol is worth that much unless it's custom made or a special edition or something. I can justify that price tag on a rifle but not a semi auto polymer pistol. Let's face it guys Hk has a great reputation and following and charge these prices because they can and people continue to buy them. However I do expect pistols in this price range to have a better out of box trigger. This gun in my opinion might be the best but no so much so to warrant this price. To each his own

I shot every poly-framed .45 in the rental fleet at my local range, and ended up with Glocks. I shot the G30 far better than any of the others. The XD models that I shot were too aggressively checkered to enjoy. The M&P was very good, but the G30 just made me grin. And the speed and accuracy are both way better than they should be.

I now own a G30, a G30SF, a G36, a G21, and a G21SF, all Gen3 guns. The G30 is still my favorite, but none of them are for sale. I prefer the full frames, my 123lb bride prefers the SF models. Here in CA, we're pretty much limited to 10+1, so the higher capacity of some of the larger guns was moot. The HK and FN offerings were not appealing by comparison, regardless of price. Heck, the Baer SRP I bought last summer cost as much as all 5 Glocks, or a FN and a HK, or a couple of Sigs....

the xd le 45 gap rips a two liter pop bottle all up , has decent recoil for a 45.
I mean to say the muzzle flip is manageable at least in my hands.
small enough for ccw with a jacket or vest.
now if only there was 45 gap ammo at every local wally world

My Favorite 45ACP for CC is the G30S, I know when the Trigger is Pulled it will Fire, Also, the G21 Mags can also be used in the 30S which gives you more Firepower for the Range if you wish.
