im lookin for a Fireproof safe, it needs to be between $500-$700. I have a couple of long guns and several pistols. It needs more shelves than long gun room.

any suggestions

Gun safes are not fireproof. That's why they are considered "Residential Security Containers" RSC rather than safes.
However, they do offer some fire protection, but in that price range, it will be minimal.

Check out Tractor Supply, I've heard good things about their line of gun safes.

There are lots of locking security containers in your price range, most of which will advertise some amount of fire protection for the contents (usually via a gypsum sheeting sandwiched between the liner and the steel shell).

You'll not be getting a whole lot of actual fire protection in that price range, regardless of what a given manufacturer advertises, but you will get better than nothing.

What brands and models have you found locally for sale?

I found a couple of sentry safes but the pickings are slim, I may go see in academy offers Anything close

I went used on my safe. Found a BIG OL Data Safe. If you really want fire protection they will keep the contents below 150 degrees vs 350 degrees for any gun safe. You will need a concrete slab to put it on because it weighs more than my car.

I have a friend who has a stack-on elite series. Im sure lots of people will knock it because it is a stack on, but it is actually very solid. He bought it on sale at Dicks for $400, which was a steal, and Ive seen similar stack on models since then, but they are usually more like 550 or $600. He is very happy with his, especially for the money.

You're just not going to get one of the glossy, super fortresses in that price range, and most of us are in the same boat as you are.

I know of another guy that has a Liberty and it is very nice, much better finish than the stack-on of course, and no doubt, more difficult to break into. I think Liberty makes a budget line called centurion. I saw one of those at Farm and Fleet for $700 and for the money, I thought it was quite good. I have seen people criticize them though, I think it was because they thought the metal was too thin. I didnt look super hard at the metal when I saw it, but size wise it was nice because it was wide, but not super deep.

Good luck, and there are a lot of opinions on these, so be prepared for conflicting advice.

Also, make sure you figure out what the best method is for keeping the air dry in the safe. Many people have expressed great satisfaction with the..the... cant remember the name right now. The rods that you plug in. I know others have used desiccants, you just have to make sure you keep them charged up.

Make sure you've got smoke alarms near the safe and through out your house. Many people seem to neglect this. Early warning is important. And remember placement of any safe is really important. In a basement corner, or closet. Less room for the bad guys to maneuver and out of sight out of mind. Make sure you bolt it down! And even a cheap under $100 alarm can help spook some one who is up to no good, or snooping where they don't belong.
