Which semi-auto .22 LR??

I've let every 10-22 in my life go, and gladly.

My Marlin Model 60 is a *forever* gun for me.

Simple action
Micro-Groove barrel
Tube magazine - no detachables to lose or forget to bring
Stellar accuracy
Flawless functioning - never met a round or manufacturer to slow it down
Looks good
Handles sweetly

Todd.

Look in this months issue of Gun Tests Magazine (Feb. 2020) for the tests of 4, 22 LR replicas. Of the 4, the German Sport Guns StG44 earned "Our Pick". They found it to be "accurate and unfailingly reliable" with a MSRP of $330. And no, I`m not affiliated with GSG at all.
If I didn`t already have half a safe full of various .22`s I`d look hard at one myself.

I have a Marlin 39A, which is great. Had a Browning BL-22 and hated it. The 39A is very accurate. Still want a semi-auto and not a 10/22
My Marlin .22 tri-fecta makes me supremely happy.
39, 57M & 60.

Aside from some odd-balls in my safe already, I can't imagine seeking out anything else.

Todd.

I've had a Ruger 10/22 and sold it because I just couldn't warm up to it.

I may have missed it but I didn't see why you didn't like it.

With as many models as ruger has, it shouldn't hard to find pretty close to what you want and then you still have the endless after market and other mfgrs renditions available.

However, due to it rotory mag, the receiver is fairly chunky. So if that's whats behind you not liking it, it ain't get'n slimmer.

In the budget range, I'd say the svelte by comparison, Marlin is worth looking at.

The buffer is not re durable and needs to be watched and the after market has largely ignored it but it's hard to beat as a nice little walk about companion 22lr rifle for very little money.

OK...the back story....I bought a 10/22 to have quicker back up shots when I occasionally miss shots, usually at squirrels. It really didn't work out that way so I worked on improving my accuracy with the first shot. I have 5 really great squirrel rifles and I think it was just an excuse to buy another one. So, my saying I couldn't warm up to it means I really prefer my other rifles (and squirrels usually run like hell with a near miss). Anyway, it was retired to the back of my gun case until a friend, who loves 10/22s, offered me more money than I could pass up.
Fast forward to now. Still have 5 great squirrel rifles and I practice hitting them in the head with the first shot. The desire to have a semi-auto now as I said in the OP is that I love plinking at floating objects in fast moving water which can generate several rapid shots. Of course a 10/22 seems ideal for that task and you can change them anyway you like. BUT, I'm not a tinkerer and never will be, so being able to add this or change that doesn't appeal to me. And I'm always looking or a new experience and I've had the 10/22 experience, so I might step up to a Volquartsen. I realize that such a jump goes well beyond plinking, but what the hell... like nice guns.

Bad idea IMO just asking for a ricochet.
I always like to know where my bullets are going to end up. (well give or a take a bit)

If I didn't have a modified 10-22 I have always wanted Browning SA22, they just look nice to me.

Don't let anything I say get in your way...

But I sew spending all that money on a Volquartsen when you say you want something different than a 10/22 when it's kinda like a premade ultimate 10/22.

I dont have one but I'd CZ before Volquartsen.... if you don't already have CZs too

I appreciate your thoughts. The Volquartsen does look a lot like the 10/22 that I bought and sold. Volquartsen has a reputation for top notch production quality, accuracy, good triggers, etc.. I don't own a CZ, but have shot several, but all bolt guns, not a semi. Don't doubt they woud shoot well. The Volquartsen would kill 2 birds with one stone. I want a semi-auto and I've always wanted to try a Volquartsen. But, I like the Remington 552 BDL and may make an easy decision and buy one. I really want a semi, but my desire for a Volquartsen is not a burning desire. I am by nature a very curious guy and have bought several guns that I was curious about and later sold. Might end up the same way with a Volquartsen, so I don't plan to take such and investment lightly. Gotta sell some guns to buy anything new. Wish me luck.
