Visibility is going to be more important than ever in these coming days. So much so that I have finally decided to make an account here and elsewhere that I have lurked for some time.

EVERYONE who cares about their firearms rights should sign the petitions against gun control at https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/.

It will not be these petitions that make the difference in the end, but they will improve our chances and are easy to do. Please take 5 minutes of your time to help us catch up to the suddenly organized anti-gun mob that has been fueled by media sensationalism, and tell EVERYONE ELSE that you know that will support us. We need to work together now more than ever.

Please also write your Senators/Congressmen. Tell them you do not wish to be punished for the actions of others, and if some form of law simply cannot be avoided, to attempt to focus it on the real problems - mental health and the mentally unhealthy's access to these firearms - rather than the guns themselves.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
- Sky

I agree. And you need to be willing to take a stand on them.

I started this one a few minutes ago just to get some kind of proactive talk on the table. Everything there now is hand wringing.

You can't search this one yet because it has fewer than 150 signatures. Come on I just made it. And I'm a friendless curmudgeon.

What I proposed is a $2 per gun at retail excise tax to fund mental health services just like the tax on tires funds highways. I know. No new taxes. Well, let Feinstein make a proposal for you.

The petition with 80k signatures that begs Obama not to punish law abiding gun owners is laughable. Propose a solution. Don't prostrate before the king begging mercy.

If we don't want to become Australia we had darn well better be standing on Congress's desks in January as the gun owners of America saying, "Look Bozos, this is a mental health issue, but our shoulders are broad and we'll help solve it. But if you leave us in the cross hairs kiss your seat goodbye."
