I don't recall saying that. The very definition of Fudds and Fudd guns are the type of guns you and others prefer which are typically older fashioned looking revolvers, bolt action guns, etc. (Nothing wrong with that FYI) Fudds also typically aren't into semiauto tactical rifles, red dots, and the more modern stuff. Just like the very definition of "Tacticool" guys only like the high capacity tactical handguns with the nic nacs on them, and they bash the older stuff. As I stated, I am a mixture of both, so I'm not bashing either types of firearms.Right. If one doesn't French kiss the ejection ports of their AR's, they're Fudds.
Yes, you can buy an AR in 300 WM and just about every handgun and rifle caliber that is available. You can get a 50 BMG in the AR platform as well.... My point was that everything you can do with a bolt action rifle from target shooting, hunting a variety of animals, or what have you can also be done with an AR.All around rifle?? Really?? For what?? What can you hunt with an AR? Long distance shooting of what? Elk? Elephants? Paper? Can I get an AR chambered in 300 WM so I can elk hunt with it? Or does just carrying an AR, regardless of the cartridge for which it's chambered, make it an awesome hunting rifle that will kill any beast that walks the planet?
The AR platform is very versatile, and can do most most things other platforms can do. I'm not sure why that upsets you. Even though a bolt action maybe better suited, you can still successfully do everything you can do with a bolt action rifle in the AR platform; however, when transferring to defensive/offensive situations and/or getting multiple shots on target fast, a bolt action cannot keep up.No one's bashing AR's, but geez, these irrational AR's-can-do-anything threads get so old, perpetuated by people who spend more time talking about hunting and shooting than actually doing it.

All righty then. You must be reading a different thread. Seven pages thus far.No one's bashing AR's,
I must have missed that post, sounds awfully provocative...If one doesn't French kiss the ejection ports of their AR's, they're Fudds.
Aside from the fact that most of us -- even some of us who've carried guns professionally through our lifetimes, hunt regularly, shoot in competition and practically live on our ranges -- spend far more time talking and writing on the internet about hunting and shooting than actually doing it...these irrational AR's-can-do-anything threads get so old, perpetuated by people who spend more time talking about hunting and shooting than actually doing it.

SFAR in 6.5cm and the XL frames in 7mag are probably the next ARs I play with.AR in 300 WM
Agree, there are most definitely “Fudd” gun owners and they don’t deserve to own guns period as in my definition of the word they would do just what the anti-2A groups would do and provide a death by 1,000 cuts to our rights. I’m not hearing any naysayers of AR’s here suggest people should give up their AR’s.As someone who uses the term Fudd when I think it is warranted I would say the term Fudd is getting thrown around here and it doesn't really apply for the most part.
There are no Fudd guns only Fudd gun owners. Fudds are gun owners that are willing to give up the AR style guns and similar in a belief it will save their more tradition hunting firearms. The term Fudd is about selfish traditionalist that are willing to sacrafice large aspects of the second amendment rights in a mistaken attempt to save/protect their right to hunt.
Whether you do or do not like ARs does not define you as a Fudd. Your a Fudd if you think someone else should not own an AR because you mistakenly believe that others owning ARs or similar is jeopardizing you right to hunt and own traditional hunting guns. Fudd is about attitude towards rights not hardware.
I leave with all of mine, and even after Ive been running around while I shoot.
.All wars fought between 1900 and WWII were fought mainly with bolt guns.I sort of feel the same way about bolt rifles, they are really only good for shooting targets at the range, playing long range games, and for shooting the big heavy magnums. I own several but they are only used for target shooting or if I travel somewhere to hunt that an AR wouldn't be legal to use.

Exactly and that was why I posted that post. I have not seen any Fudds in the thread but the term was getting used in reference to hardware which I think just angers people unnecessarily since the term is really about people and their attitudes and not the particular hardware.Agree, there are most definitely “Fudd” gun owners and they don’t deserve to own guns period as in my definition of the word they would do just what the anti-2A groups would do and provide a death by 1,000 cuts to our rights. First of all thank you for your service!I refuse to go to the range, because there are mostly idiots dumping mag after mag out of AR's and AK's, and not improving their shooting skills one iota (well, changing mags, maybe). Can't stand the noise.
Another pet peeve is being on the down side of the ejection port of an AR or AK shooter who is doing mag dumps.First of all thank you for your service!
The last part above sounds like a range issue. These ranges need to be organized where there is a firing line that isn’t for double taps and recoil management on semi-autos.
Simply put there needs to be some separation of shooting skills for the betterment of the range experience.
The fact of the matter is the use of an AR for defensive purposes puts a persons training needs into higher speed manipulation of the firearm. In regards to trigger/safety manipulation, double taps, failure drills, magazine changes and getting off the “X” shoot and move drills. All of that requires noise, often perceived by many at the range as unnecessary and stupid.
Now no doubt there are those as you describe just turning money into noise, and you know what that’s great, that’s a free America and the sound of a healthy 2nd Amendment. Could/Should there be a place on the range for such activities, absolutely.
So I would challenge us all to be a part of the solution and help create a better range with structure that encourages all aspects of firearm ownership as the range can allow. Including “mag dumps into dirt berms, steel plates, whatever. As long as safety is a priority then who is it harming?
I will agree, it doesn’t make for a great day at the range no doubt when you have a 10” 5.56 under an over head canopy going off in rapid succession while one is trying to control one’s breathing for a precision shot.
Right. If one doesn't French kiss the ejection ports of their AR's, they're Fudds.

I bring a jug or bucket, just in case I'm in that situation. I normally won't catch brass until after the first bounce, but there are exceptions.Another pet peeve is being on the down side of the ejection port of an AR or AK shooter who is doing mag dumps.
Think of Louisiana, if you can stand the heat. In 2012 we passed a constitutional amendment to strengthen 2d Amendment rights in the state, I think by 70%.I don't own one because I live in a commie state. I could've bought one years ago, when a full-featured AR was legal (of course it would now have to be registered), but my initial rifle purchases were traditional hunting rifles. Now I won't buy one because I have no interest in a neutered AR. Maybe if I ever escape this dump.
We live here so our children will know their grandparents and extended family. I'd like to leave as soon as they are grown, but that will be another 10 years. I'm trying to engineer a family migration and am looking at UT, ID, and WY (I would like to include MT and CO, but it looks like they are or will be no better than NY by the time I would be able to move). #1 will be off to college in '24 and her first choice is out in the rockies. If #2 chooses to head that way, then the family migration will be in motion!
I went through Basic Training with an M1, was issued an M14 my first tour in Germany. My first tour in RVN I mostly carried an M79 and a .45 1911A1. Second tour I was issued an M16 for guard duty. Never did like the things, still don't. I refuse to go to the range, because there are mostly idiots dumping mag after mag out of AR's and AK's, and not improving their shooting skills one iota (well, changing mags, maybe). Boat: a hole in the water surrounded by wood into which one throws money.I'll take a shot at that question.
I've got a bolt gun that holds as much ammo, less expensive, and feels better in my hands and on my shoulder.
I don't own one yet because I've prioritized my funds for things I like more. If the day comes I have a grand or so burning holes in my wallet, I might look at one if my boat doesn't need anything.
I just don't gravitate toward them.
Right. If one doesn't French kiss the ejection ports of their AR's, they're Fudds.
