10mm seems to be making a comeback in popularity among a small group of firearms enthusiasts that can understand and appreciate the caliber's niche. I've never shot a 10mm, but I can see it's purpose and I like the looks of it on paper.
A durable sub-compact with a 3-4" conventionally rifled barrel (to handle lots of lead loads) like the Springfield XD Subcompact chambered in 10mm and holding 8 or 9 rounds would be my ideal woods gun, and would possibly even replace my Ruger SP101. Come to think of it, Ruger would be a great candidate for a new 10mm. They seem to be coming out with a lot of new things consumers want, instead of just what they've been doing for years and years. A Ruger SR10 has a ring to it. As does Springfield XD10, Beretta PX4-Ten, and S&W M&P10. Are you listening gun manufacturers?
Glock seems to be the only company offering a polymer, subcompact 10mm, but the dang thing has polygonal rifling and a horribly-shaped grip (for my hands). I know certain companies offer drop-in replacement barrels with conventional rifling, but come on, someone else get in the 10mm game!
Didn't someone start a petition to Springfield to make an XD10? Where do I sign?
