Half my collection is older than me. My current compact auto for EDC is CZ VZ 50 in .32 ACP. Creepy DA trigger but otherwise nice to shoot. Older than me by a year.
In a back to shorts weather cycle so it's been my 1929 Colt 2.5" Pocket Positive as my CCW selection, 6 rounds of 32Police CTG (32S&W Long but can't have that marked on a Colt) with 4 more HKS Speed Loaders in an off-side pocket.
The old Colt is losing some of the factory nickle and has some signs of arrested rust but still locks up, indexes and times like it did nearly a century ago.
But the I'm not in a great shape as it is myself. Here it is with a S&W Model 30 J frame that dates from the mid 1960s.
Owned four Enfield #4/Mk1s and a pair of #5 "Jungles". Recoil with a #5 isn't uncomfy (I'm skinny) if the arm is in just a nearly-level "Chicken Wing" !
Why not--it Keeps a little extra flesh behind the butt.
About 1/4 of my guns are older than I am, but I don't shoot them all that often; I have an Astra 400 and a VZ52 that I've shot some this year, and I used to shoot skeet (and groundhogs) with a WW1 vintage Remington Model 10.
I shoot (and handload for) a World War 2 era Springfield M1903A3 .30-06 on a regular basis.
On a more occasional basis I shoot a Marlin M1893 .32-40 lever action (made in 1899), a French military Berthier M1916/5 carbine (World War 1 vintage), a Remington Model 11 semi-auto 12 gauge (Grandfather's shotgun from the 1930s I think), and a Ruger Mark 1 .22 pistol (my Dad bought it used in the early 1950s.)
Oh and one more. A 1920s vintage Stevens Arms "Springfield" single-shot .22 bolt action. In the mid-1970s my Dad bought this rifle from a next door neighbor for $10.00 so I could move up from BB guns. Still enjoy shooting it to this day.
