Who scopes their .22s?

Silhouette competition shooting calls for scopes with much higher maginifation than normally prefered for .22's, plus the need target style adjustments for firing and focusing at four different distances. These three Silhouette rifles are, at top: Anschutz MS for Std Class events with high mounted16X Leupold. Center is Anschutz 1700 for Hunter Class with 24X B&L. The colored patches on both are inspection passes from National Silhouette Championships. Bottom is Remington 40-X RF Sporter with 12X Leupold. IMG_6675.jpg

Never! Well...I do have one scoped, out of my vast collection of four, but with a small scope, not one that weighs more than the rifle. :) That little scope, something from the 1960's, is as accurate as any of the big giant monstrosities out there. Crazy accurate.

I'm generally an iron sight kinda guy. Depending on the gun, I will scope one though, a Marlin model 60 for example.

If I happen to be in a time when I have only 1 22 rifle, it almost never will have a scope. Sometimes I'll dabble and add one for load testing or just to mess around with, but always remove it.

I had a Marlin model 60 (with the squirrel on the stock) when I was growing up. The gun shot way to the right for some reason, so I put a cheap scope on it.

Other than that, I really like iron sights.

This bottom pair reminds me of a loyal customer I have had for many years. He’s hard on his rifles, and shoots the hell out of them, so I get a Browning SA22 (Belgian made), a Rem 121, and a Win 63 brought in once a year for tune ups. Thorough cleaning, because they’ll be just PACKED with wax, carbon, and lead fouling, and a smattering of battered parts, it’s usually simple stuff - I’ve ended replacing the entire recoil and slide assembly in that only Winchester. What a neat little rifle design. Super fun.

With the only exceptions of an AK and a Marlin 1894 in .357, all of my rifles are scoped.
They include a .243, a Ruger 10/22, a Marlin .22LR bolt, and another Marlin bolt but in .22 Magnum.
Unfortunately, I don't remember the powers of the scopes with the exception of the .243 and it is a 3-9x. The 10/22 may be a straight 4x but the two bolt action rifles are variables, either 2-7x or 3-9x. I just can't remember at this moment.

Comes from being an old f@rt.
