How is the muzzle flash from that 8-inch 458 SOCOM?

Apocalyptic... Jk, it makes a decent fireball, maybe slightly larger than a standard 44 mag from my 7.5" redhawk. But it puts a whoopin' on whatever it's pointed at. You can't plink with it, you HAMMER with it. Its fun.

Although not a machine gun (illegal) it's a semi auto pistol in the form of a SMG.

well federally machine guns are not "illegal" they are restricted .... locally ya may have no legal way

just like a decade ago you were a gun nobody if you didn’t have a $3000 poorly running 1911. Today you are a gun nobody if you don’t have a questionably legal sbr ish AR that the BATFE may redefine into illegally again at any given time

There is a purpose. A short barreled AR with a suppressor is similar in length to a "standard" length AR.
In 300 BO or 7.62x39, this is a relatively quiet truck gun.
I don't want to do ATF paperwork. So I run a 16" AR with muffs whenever possible.
