Why do HK owners think HK's are better than Glocks?

I owned an HK 91 that was sweet.
One rifle I never should have sold, like brand new!
That was back in the days when you could get that, with another stock to go with it, for less than $800!

JShirley, the people who use the pistols for what they are designed for have a very high opinion of them. For every 3 gunner/gun store owner/internet debater who doesn't like them, I'm sure there is another one that does.

Some people forget these things are weapons first and foremost. All the spare parts you can imagine sitting there in an armory don't mean a thing if you aren't there with them.

On December 3, 1949 Edmund Heckler, Theodor Koch, Alex Seidel visited Santa Clause at the Oberndorf am Neckar Mall....and all three asked Santa for the same thing -- "All I want for Christmas is the world's best handgun...". On December 25, 1949 they awoke finding an assortment of Glocks under their Christmas Trees...

You should try educating yourself a little more before feeling compelled to share your opinions.

ya know -- I don't want to veer too far off the thread -- but it's failed anyways -- but i'll say -- video games, along with hollywood, athletes and other famous people are trend setters -- and if you don't think people buy "things" because they see their favorite people with them -- then you gotta board the boat of modern marketing.

if Hulk Hogan said to shoot a Sig -- then i'll shoot a sig.... but really -- u get what i'm saying --

mbruce, you are right. This is why Glock put pistols in LE holsters for dirt cheap.

Todd Green is one of the top trainers and consultants in the business. Used to be the head trainer at the SIG Academy and worked and is well known.

People thinking HK pistols are over-priced and not knowing who he is goes hand in hand.

Well, when you're right you're right. I think HK's are overpriced (though fine weapons) and I have no idea who that guy is.

I say if that is what the person read, and he or she is relaying that to us, we can verify whether it is true or not.
In fact, he/she even TELLS US TO DO THE RESEARCH!

I think we are all big boys in here, big enough to know how to do some searching with our friend (for now) Google

It doesn't actually work like that. :) Anyone who makes an outrageous claim- such as, the most-used law enforcement handguns are dangerously flawed- has what is known as the "burden of proof". It is the responsibility of the party making the outrageous claims to show evidence of said claims. It's rather like trying to make a court case. The burden of proof is on the prosecution to show reasonable evidence of the charges they are making against the defendant.

If you made the claim- you back it up. It's that simple.

For every 3 gunner/gun store owner/internet debater

"One of those things is not like the other." 3 gunners fire thousands of rounds in practice. They see what works for them, what works for other high-volume shooters, and what does not work, and what breaks. Higher-volume gun store workers also see which firearms frequently need repair. Both of these groups have a "knowledge base" to have an informed opinion. Anyone with computer access can be an internet debater.

Some people forget these things are weapons first and foremost. All the spare parts you can imagine sitting there in an armory don't mean a thing if you aren't there with them.

Um, okay? Not sure what your point is here. Besides unreasonable cost, I don't much care for HKs because they are less useful weapons to me, because of their poor ergonomics.

Why so emotional? BTW, I'm failrly certain my firearms "education" at a minimum equals your own.

All opinions are not created equal. If you shoot over 40,000 rounds a year in careful practice, your opinion might be worth as much as Chris Rhines'.

fully agree -- trend setters can amass movements..... I'd be more willing to go buy an XDM or SW M&P because Rhines says he prefers that than someone like my next door neighbor saying nothing beats his ole Ruger.... star power...all about the star power...

I figured i would post on this one before it meets its demise........

I have owned both HKs ( USP 45 , USP 45 Tactical, and P7 x2) and Glocks (too many to listed). Still own a few Glocks, and one HK. I do not think that the HK is any better than Glock. This is just my opinion.

Glocks offers me more than an HK, at half the price. They are both fine tools though, and should serve well in doing what they are meant to do. YMMV

As another who owns both HK and Glocks - each have their good and bad points.......personally I LOVE my P7........I really LIKE my Glocks - if I was living in an adverse climate and only had one to take, the Glock would get the nod

If you'd spent $900 on a handgun would YOU admit that a $500 Glock was better?

ok seriously...this was funny...how did i not get a response... i mean we can only go back and forth so many times with "well my glock is better than your hk".."no your wrong my hk is better than your glock..."no it's not.."...."yes it is..."

I don't know that H&K is better than Glock, or vise versa. BUT, I did have an H&K shooter (USP 9) ask me what handgun "is so accurate?" while I was working over a rack of swinging plates one day from 25 yards. Yeah, my "so accurate" handgun is a stock Glock 17 with night sights. I let him run a magazine through it, he let me try a magazine in the USP and fun was had by all. :p

And I will state, after trying a couple of USPs, the stock triggers were HORRIBLE! DA, SA, either action, they were nothing to brag about, even next to my Glock. Come to think of it, the as-issued DA of a CZ-75 is nothing spectacular either...

The match trigger on USP tactical is fantastic, and the accuracy is better than any other 45 I have ever owned or fired. It is a big gun, but its a damned accurated, swiss watch reliable big gun.

The "best" handgun is the one with which you can best hit your target. All the rest of this argifying is just picking fly-poop out of pepper, which is not the most remunerative of career paths.
