Why Open Carry is a BAD idea.

1. I can't find any evidence that he was open carrying at the time. The linked article certainly doesn't provide that information

2. The shooting doesn't appear to be related to how he carried, but rather to the fact that he had the gun in his hand when officers encountered him.

3. The implication is that this is a good guy responding to a shooting, but the evidence at this time seems to indicate that he was a participant (albeit not the actual shooter) leaving the scene, not responding to it.

There may be lessons to be learned from this incident, but it seems that the entire premise of the OP is based on...nothing at all.

With open carry being a charged topic already, and the thread title and OP being pretty much completely unrelated to the actual incident, and unless information is found that he was open carrying we can revisit this, we are done here.
