Hello everyone,

Had a question on Wilson Combat Mags. I'm looking to buy myself a few mags. Can everyone tell me if there is a big difference on the 1911 Elite Tactical Magazine for the 45acp over the 47D non ETM Magazine?

The ETM Mag is $35 and the 47D version is $33.

thanks.

Just happened to have both in my hands...

47D on Left, ETM on right..

Tarosean,

Do you know of any differences between them 2 mags? is one better than the other?

The Wilson ETM was introduced to address feeding issues with the 47D. The main difference is the longer body of the ETM. It is to accommodate a spring optimized to correctly lift an 8 round column

Even if every 47D didn't have issues, why risk it over $2?

I have a number of ETM's in 45 and 9mm and they all perform well. I agree with the previous poster, for the price difference I would just go with the ETM.

This...

I've never had any issues with either. the price difference is negligible to where it shouldn't factor in IMO..

47Ds are primarily what I carried for my duty pistol (also a Wilson) when on the street, and the only issue I ever had with them was one spring of the three mags that came with the pistol itself started to wear out after my round count through the pistol went upwards of 3000.

(And I contacted Wilson about the bad spring and they sent me new springs and followers for all three mags, no questions asked and no charge to me -- good folks to deal with in my experience.)

I have a bunch of the ETMs but I've started swapping out the plastic followers for dimpled steel followers from Check-Mate because I noticed that if fine sand or dirt gets between the follower and the tube it causes the follower to hang up. I've noticed this during and after USPSA matches where the mags are dumped on the ground stage after stage after stage. The skirt extends quite far into the tube with little clearance whereas steel followers have plenty of clearance and seem to be much less affected by dirt and sand. For CC or general range use it's not an issue (for me) and the ETM mags are very reliable when clean. Just my experience.
