Free at last in PA!
Well I was back in PA to visit family and I just "happened" to end up at one of the local gun shops. I've been looking for a little .22 for my boys so I was looking at the Cricketts the shop had. I asked the shop keeper if he had any other youth .22s and out comes a junior sized Winchester 67A. Personally I knew right then that I was going to buy it. It's in great shape, built better (IMHO), and was cheaper then the others.

So home came the new rifle and out we went for the boys to try. Now they don't quite get excited yet about new guns like their Dad does but once they started to shoot they didn't want to stop. My younger one needed the most help but he'll grow in to it. The older one was just barely too small to get it on his shoulder well but he's real close. Anyway here are a couple shots.

Nice looking little gun. Hope your boys love it as much as we do. I learned to shoot with a Win M67 (full size) that my Dad bought when he was a teenager (around 1930). He gave it to me before he died and I trained my son on it. The little single shot sits in my gun safe now waiting until my grandson (now 5 1/2) is old enough to start shooting.

Good shooting and be safe.

My first gun! And I still have it and I'm over 60! It will be used to train my grandkids to shoot.

I have a standard stock for mine and an extra beater to cut down to fit kids. Good starter gun.

Thanks for the memories!

My brother "El Tejon" bought one for my oldest kid when he turned 7, and I found that he could only shoot it from a bench. It's a serious rifle and heavy. I got him a Cricket and it has a better LOP for kids and better weight.

My first rifle! I STILL clearly remember coming into the living room on Christmas morning and seeing it under the tree. What made it even more special is that my DAD's first rifle was a 67-A as well. They are both sitting in his safe, well cared for and super accurate.

Awesome little rifle! Old 22s rule, period.

I have a nearly mint 1950s Remington Model 511 Scoremaster that I bought for 79.95 "for the children."

I love old American 22 rifles and have quite a collection: pumps, lever actions, single shots and bolt guns. The Winchester 67 is a good basic starter and man are they accurate.

Most people don't realize that there are hoardes of really nice, reliable, very accurate 22s sitting in pawn shops, that can be had for well under 100 bucks. They usually get passed over on the hurry to buy a Ruger 10-22 or some other black plastic stocked high tech new junker. Shame...the Remington, Savage, Marlin, Stevens and Winchester 22s will gladly out-group the average 10-22 Ruger by quite a margin and most have better sights and a better trigger.

Good choice...enjoy it!
