Looking for input at this point. Sounds like Lionking is taking a break from the matches, and I suggested I would pick up where he left off. As we've seen, these matches have been fun, friendly, and a bit challenging. My rough idea for winter is to run the match from Dec (once rules are finalized) through March. Going to run a few classes pending input and final decisions. Target will be the standard SR-1 repair center or full, or linked target you print. 10 shots for record from field position (as specified) for all. An important distinction from Lionking's matches, mine are test zero, then shoot for record ready or not. One submission per class per month. You are in charge of bragging up your winning score. Good shooting is something to be proud of, claim your trophy and rib others to do better.

Basic rules: unlimited sighters on any target. Honor system, once you decide to shoot a record target, you're committed to shooting and posting 10 shots good, bad or ugly. We need to see the bad scores too! Auxiliary aiming point may be used (sticker, etc). Field position. No part of rifle may touch any fixed object, sandbag, mechanical rest, etc. "Bench prone" with rifle held above the bench by shooter is OK, as many ranges aren't set up for field position shooting, which is a crying shame. Slings in any configuration are encouraged. All shooting will be at 100 yards.

Classes (tentative):
"Brush Gun": Any rifle with open "hunting" or military service style sights or scope set on maximum 2.5x magnification. (The thread with the same title got me thinking of this one). Maximum barrel length 20".

Military/Vintage iron: Any intact or modified military rifle or reproduction thereof with original iron sights or open "hunting" style sights. Use your best judgement on whether your rifle qualifies. Classic iron sighted sporting rifles with barrels too long for "brush gun" also fall into this class. Match sights such as NM, Redfield, CG63/80, and Gehmann or Anschutz type diopter sights and similar are especially prohibited.

Open standing: Run whatever you wish. Any and all mods, optics, rifles, etc, are allowed, but, shots must be from standing unsupported. Unlike NRA/CMP rules however, sling use in any configuration you wish is encouraged.

Open for suggestion through 12/5, then classes and rules will be finalized.
