It's obvious you have an obsession with quality and don't believe a Hi Point could ever preform as well as a pistol higher in price as you clearly conflate quality with cost.

I do own one, the .45 model, bought it because I wanted a semi auto .45 for a decent price and don't like GI 1911's and their garbage sights for double what the Hi Point cost. The warranty and being +P rated as I like to load my .45 reloads hot sold me on the Hi Point.

Preferring a pistol of higher quality than a Hi Point is an obsession? Thanks for the laugh.

Lol! Six pages worth, so far!
And are we convinced yet? polling data shows a 80% negative rate on the infamous HiPoint!

Don’t get it! Mabey I’ll take my pair of Unfired Gen 2 Colt SAA and shoot it right next to my HiPoint Compact with Uncle Mikes Holster. Both we “Supposed” to be a “Don’t Shoot it” guns

I previously posted my story.

I am posting again as push back on those that express the opinion that Hi Points are not worth shooting.

Many folks that have given a Hi Point an honest chance found that they could shoot it pretty good. Part of this is the sights. Although somewhat crude in construction, they are adjustable and they provide a decent sight picture. Typically Hi Points are capable of shooting groups as good or better than most semi auto pistols sold. There is nothing really "bad" about the way the grips feel and recoil is not a big "turn off". Hi Points do not have great triggers and some are better than others. They do tend to improve after the gun has been fired a bunch. I will argue that the same can be said for many semi auto guns. There are some operating "quirks" and some do not like the feel of racking the slide. Again the same can be said of many other semi auto pistols.

I enjoy shooting. To me, shooting a gun is more fun when I can shoot it accurately. I shot my Hi Point 380 and my Lo Point 9mm last Friday. As usual I shot better with the Lo Point and was happy with the results. Trying to improve my shooting with the 380 is challenge that I find worthwhile. I occasionally do this specifically to improve my ability to shoot well with a gun that has a trigger that I dislike.

Of course a Hi Point leaves a lot to be desired as a carry weapon. It is heavy and bulky. The 380 and the C9 are very low capacity compared to other similar sized guns. This thread is not about the Hi Point as a carry weapon.

However, "just shooting" is the one of the few things that the Hi Point is likely to do a decent job of. I would say that most of those that state that a Hi Point can not be a fun gun and/or a useful range practice tool are either uniformed, or just whining.

I’d say:
Rock Island M200 & M206.
Range of $250 to $300 (looking at recent Gunbroker sales & adding shipping & FFL transfer fee)

I have an M200, and used it as a vehicle gun for awhile.

Snub nosed Taurus 605's hover between $275 to $350 depending on where you get it from. I paid $300 out the door for mine. I believe its one of the cheapest 357 magnums on the market.

Well, I guess that by YOUR definition of a true gun enthusiast, because I don't "appreciate" Hi-Points, I'm not a TRUE gun enthusiast. Hmmm, opinions vary...
There is a whole lot of mediocre guns out there for sure. If one justs want to make noise.. These are a lot cheaper.

Little confused by the poll so I’ll just say this.

Would I buy one right now? No, I’m past buying odd guns for fun, especially low cost ones. I’d rather spend that money on something nicer down the line.

If I had one would I be embarrassed to shoot it at the range? Also no, I’ve shot one before and they are neat enough, doubt anyone at my range would judge and I know I wouldn’t care if they did.

that poll started when I found a C9 Compact locally. Poll was for, Should I buy or not. I bought it! why not. Don’t know till you try it

Mod, please shut this down, will make a new threaded once range report is done

I bought two Hi Points years ago and never regretted it. I bought a C9 and a .40 S&W JCP, both are dead on and were out of the box. They are heavy, but for me they are a joy to shoot. After the first 200-300 rounds they will eat anything you feed them with no hiccups. WWB ammo was glitchy for the first couple hundred rounds. I have rocked them both at the range many times and love it.
And the warranty is topped by none.

Sure, why not. I'd bring it just to hear everybody talk smack about it. I've got enough cool stuff that I'd get a chuckle out of someone who doesn't know what I've got presuming I rock a hi point because I have to. In fact, I might get one or two just so I can do that. Keep the cool stuff in the car and rock the hi points at first and see what I can troll up.

I've shot them before, they are enjoyable to shoot, and surprisingly reliable for what they are.

Edit: To further that thought, I kind of like the idea of rocking a hi point and a bunch of steel case ammo. That way when I go to the range I don't care what happens to my brass or my gun

I bought a LNIB Remington R51 two years ago for $150, despite their reputation mine is definitely a better gun than the hi point for the same money.
The thing with hi points is yes, you can find better used guns for the money, but you'll have to look hard for them and it will probably be a while before one pops up. The hipoint is right there in the case available for $150 any time you need or want it.

I'd rock this at the range, and laugh my ass off at how crappy it is while doing it, so I'd certainly rock a hi point. You'd be surprised how much fun you can have goofing around with cheap "toys" if you leave your ego at home

Everyone here who is on this forum has more guns that 10 people will ever need. It’s not really about the cost, it’s the internet hype that interest me about the HiPoint. And it’s a American company building cheap guns for everyone… that a ton to say too

aluminum and steel case are great from just pure shooting and not worrying!
