I wish they would make an adjustable sight GP-100 with 7 or 8 rounds.
Here's a GP100 in .327 mag:
That's nice. :)

For those who want a snub in .327 Federal, do realize the ear splitting blast is going to be very painful in a self defense situation with no ear protection.

Mayvik,

Why don't you tell us how you really feel?

I don't consider the SP101 to be a small frame. It certainly is a large heavy small frame. For me it sounds like a nice compromise.
It's Ruger's DA small frame, no it isn't a J or D frame...

The 632 S&W also made me facepalm. I don't always release new guns in a new chambering, but when I do I make sure the MSRP is about $1k and they are loaded with goofy doo-dads like a weird tapered 3/4 ejector shroud and an unnecessary compenator. That really helps evaluate the market for the new caliber. Their other model was better, aside from pricetag and fluted barrel.

For the record I have had a 327 GP100 since they came out and love it and the cartridge, but would sure like something I can conceal more readily when it isn't winter. Ideally a 2.5" or so SP or a J frame if there was a reasonably priced, unmolested basic model.

With the proper IWB, I think most will be able to conceal this new SP, even in summer.

I know I'd be able to. I can easily do so with my S&W 642, and add a couple more inches to the bbl and it would still be no problem.

What Ruger has done was finally give the .327 Fed Mag it's due share of barrel length, while still in a small frame revolver with the standard capacity of a 6 shot service revolver. It's nothing short of genius, and like I said, I'm getting one as soon as I possibly can.

I love it when new guns come out after SHOT ! :D

If everything comes out at SHOT the rest of the year gets boring.

Yeppers!

Ruger really hit one out of the ballpark with this one. I cannot wait till they become available. One thing I love about Ruger also is that they don't make vaporware. Usually when they announce a new product, it only takes a few weeks before there's a bunch of them on Gun Broker or even in the local shops.

We wants it... the precioouusss... yessss, we wants it...
Oh God yes we do!!! I'm going to be SCOURING the auction sites. When I find my .327 SP101 with the 4.2" barrel, I'll snag it.

IMHO, if Jesus Christ were to be reincarnated as a revolver, gentleman this would be that revolver.

I just wish the .327 as caliber can oneday become just as popular as the 9mm etc. I would have have bought this if it was available in South Africa. But there is simply no interest for this caliber in my country and no ammo for it, if I decide to import it.
What is so wrong with this caliber? You can fire such a wide range of ammo in this gun. I don't understand the hate for this caliber.

The first batch of .327 Federal Magnum cambered revolvers ever made were 3" SP-101's rechambered from .32 H&RM some years back. Then, everyone else got on the bandwagon - for a while. Below is S&W's last entry - and first to be dropped - my 6-shot 632 Pro 'hammerless' with a Tritium night sight and 2 1/8" barrel, sporting S&W '60 Pro' grips. Note the missing IL - this is my latest made S&W!

That's an HKS #32-J speedloader - fitted my old 4" .32 H&RM SP-101. That single gun proved to be more aggravating than any of my other Ruger revolvers, which were all bought new - and were seemingly delivered as 'works in progress'. It's non-fixable fault, which it shared with my Ruger SA BHG .32 H&RM, was over-sized chambers - at the max ID allowed. Cases are re-sized 3 thousandths of an inch smaller - not significant in larger calibers, but it really shortens case life in that small caliber. Add to that their windage-only adjustable rear sight in those earlier model .32 & .22 SP-101's, and you might understand why I switched to S&W. I have seen and shot their new 4.2" SP-101 in .22 and it is a vast improvement over those early models. I may just have to give them another 'shot', so to speak... S&W is unlikely to ever 'try' that round again, although a K-frame in .327 would be nice... For a while, Ruger was the one making a .327 revolver - just like the beginning!

I got to say I'm tempted. I would be more tempted if I hadn't purchased a 4" SP101 in .32 H&R Magnum last year. It is a fantastic gun but I don't know if it will be worth the $500 to $600 just to add a .327 Federal Mag.

Really wish they'd bring back the 3" SP, and the 4" GP. I'd buy both in a heartbeat. Missed on em the first time around...still kicking myself over it.

I'm thinking the same thing. Last time Ruger made a short run then discontinued the model. Prices then doubled in the used market. I was about to have a custom H&R barrel made in .327 but now I'm debating whether I should buy the revolver now while they are available. A gunsmith can make a custom barrel any time.

That new SP101 is rally good looking. But if I buy anymore guns I'll have to move to a bigger place for all my stuff.

JSH1,

I would be perfectly happy with a SP in 32 Magnum. As commented that 327 is loud!

I've very happy with my SP101 in 32 H&R Magnum. The reality is that I would hardly ever shoot .327 even if it was chambered for .327. I mostly shoot S&W Long in the SP101 I have now.

I also wonder if a SP101 chambered in 327 would shoot 32 S&W Longs as well as one chambered in 32 H&R Mag. The chamber would be .280 longer than needed.

God I can't wait to get my hands on this gun!! Anyone see any reviews for it yet, in print or video form?

Wow looks like Ruger got the message. When asked about re introducing the SP101 in 327 in a 4 inch barrel, ( the perfect match for the caliber)they said " never gona happen".

Then with prodding from Lipsey come the success of the Single Seven in 327 mag in a small frame longer barrel gun.

In my opinion the 327 mag and the SP101 with 4 inch Barrel is the perfect platform for the 327 magnum cartridge.

I have a Taurus 327 mag w/ 2 inch barrel for CC work and a Single 7 w/ 5 inch barrel for fun gunning. So of course as soon as I see this new sp101 I am plunking down the ging.

When asked about coming out with the M77 carbine in 327 mag. They also said no. Hope they were wrong about that too.

Glad to see Ruger is producing a 32 caliber revolver again. I think the next logical step would be to produce the LCR snub in one of the 32 calibers for concealed carry. A small lightweight 38 special is too snappy for me, which is why I went with a Charter in 32 H&R.

The SP101 in .327 Fed Mag with the 4.2" WILL be concealable!!

I'm going to have Simply Rugged make me one of their Silver Dollar Pancakes for the SP101 in .327 Fed Mag w/ 4.2" bbl.

I've got one for my GP101, and it's PERFECT for IWB except the GP100 is a big... well, trying not to be politically incorrect... but it's just too FAT!

I'm hoping this new SP will be quite a bit thinner.

If you already have a SP101 in .32H&R, you can get a reamer, or pay someone who has a reamer, to extend your chambers to .327 length. The extraction rod will be too short and you might need a different front sight. It's about $100 for the reamer or the service, either way. I know this is common for SP101s and S&W 16-4s. You should consult a knowledgeable gunsmith on any other guns.
