My Grandmother always said, Be ware what you want lest you get it.
Well my son surprised me with a Bushmaster BA50 .50 BMG, all new with a pair of
10 round clips, bipod, roller case, 85 rounds of ammo that are stamped IK-88.
I just bought a Ruger Precision Rifle in 300 Win Mag & am dreading all the reloading
I will have to do for that new caliber, now this beast shows up.
I don't presently plan on moving up to reloading the 50 BMG but one never knows, since
that would make it the gift that keeps on wanting more attention.
But basic info is what I want like what scope, what type ammo, what type realistic bipod,
what about breaking in the barrel, what about the ammo I have, is it ok for a bolt action?
The ammo came on a linked belt which was easy enough separated & the cases were
very clean compared to what I have seen for sell so far.
The box they cam in doesn't match the condition of the ammo, the box is wore but not badly
yet the ammo fit in it perfectly. The box, in short says = Linked M15A2 1 TRACER M17-4API M8
LC - 10 - 198. LOT# TW-18919.
Do I shoot & clean per round like regular new rifle or run it some first?
30" bbl by the way.
Need any pics let me know, lots going on at Xmas today.
Merry Xmas people.

Just a thought. Why not do a search on your questions on the on the internet. A lot to be learned and it`s free.

He just did. In real time, in anyone that reads the thread’s brain.

Discussion Forums do make great searchable Reference Libraries, however, sometime humans just like to talk to each other about things they like.

Like a 50 BMG given to him by his well raised son!

Seems a shame to have to remind one of that on a Christmas Present thread...o_O

Aces, make sure the bipod is steel...:D
And good job Dad! I know you had a Merry Christmas!

Just trying to be helpful. No need to be nasty.

The Igman ammo from Bosnia is some of the finest made. I have some made for Mitchels Mausers by Igman in 50 caliber and the velocity is very very uniform.
Beware of that Christmas story about the BB gun. If you shoot yer' eye out with it,.... it's gonna' be more painful than a bb gun! :)

The surplus Ammo stuck in the chamber. I pulled the bullets and resized them and that solved the problem. The recoil is plenty nasty. More than I expected from a 30 plus pound rifle with supposedly good muzzle brake.

Good luck with yours Aces&8s.

If it doesn't have a scope on it, the Super Sniper line of scopes are well proven to work and hold up on .50 BMG . I started out with a 10x Super Sniper on my first one and all though moved up to a Night Force eventually, it never let me down and worked well.

Because I don't believe everything I see or read on the internet.
At least here one begins to learn who has real info & experience with the question at hand.
Besides time isn't on my side these days, & I am a terrible net searcher.
If I am asking to many questions on here I apologize.

My Son would not let the sun set before we had to place a 30 mm scope on it & of course we didn't adjust the
stock out far enough & they made old sick Dad shoot it first.
Of course hurried work leads to disaster, I got the evil eye from the first round, just a hard bump over the eye. Moved the stock back
that worked much better. My backstop was built by that same son with a backhoe, glad I didn't try the 2nd target, it would still be going.
I will look into Night Force. I honestly do look stuff up like I remember Night Force vids, but hearing real owners helps verify their claims.

Last time I took my FAL to the indoor range (fitted with a KDF muzzle brake), I got the hairy eyeball.

I was only there to adjust the gas setting, but stopped after around 5 rounds when my electronic ears caught someone across the way mention something about a "F****** atomic cannon". I didn't want to be "that" guy.

I can't imagine lugging something like that in there.

My first step would be to buy a lee classic cast, a set of dies, 8 pound jug of powder, and a couple different boxes of bullets. Perhaps a recoil pad... wheel barrow to haul it in at the range...
8# jug of powder = 4 loaded cartridges though. Better make it a 55 gallon drum.

I keep telling my daughter's to buy me guns for Christmas and birthdays , Easter, 4th of July, any time but they don't . they do have excuse though - their combined age is barely 3, not a great excuse but I understand. My wife is the same way, no excuse for her.

I figured it out this year. I showed up with a gun and told the crew that they did good Birthmas shopping for me. Since my birthday is a few days before Christmas it works out to where I can spend a bit more and still let them buy me t-shirts with fish on them. They did great at that too! Fly fishing T-shirts’ are rare around here.

Both the Ruger & The Bush Master:View attachment 880316
Dang, that puts it in perspective, don’t it!

you’re going to love that thing. I shot a few rounds out of a Barrett and it’s like a bomb going off. The ground shakes, your fillings shake, it’s a rush!

I can’t imagine a P 47 diving down on you with 8 .50s in full auto... I’d probably just soil my drawers and die.

We pop a VW bus sized rock with my barrett m99 about ~1700yds (buddy's lazer rangefinder) give or take a couple of yards. Never gets old.
Took an embarrassingly large amount of ammunition and a 2 spotters to get hits at first. But now not so much.

Use APIT and AP and occasionally ball.
Got a Millet 6x25 on her. It has held up pretty well so far.
Clean it like normal. Scrub, wipe n oil (much easier since parts are big).
Have fun.
