Lets play this game again..

In an effort to control the proliferation of weapons, some future govermenttt decides that you can only own one cenerfire rifle and one pistol...

What do you choose and why...assume that you can own all the rifmires ya want and all the shotguns ya want

Me...

Browning HP...slim enough to conceal, hi cap, accurate, uber reliable and sturdy..

AR15...suitable for home defense, target and hunting game in my area such as caribou....

Two Colt 1911s in Series 70 form. One for my pistol. 5" Government. The second to serve as a dedicated carbine. You knew I would find a loophole!!

For the handgun I would say BHP as well, since that is what I want in reality. However, since I can only have one handgun, ever, cost and value considerations go out the window and I would figure some kind of high end custom 1911. :D

Only one centerfire rifle? :( What kind of evil unAmerican government are we talkin' here? I guess I would have to say No. 4 MkIT (british sniper rifle from WWII) since I really enjoy shooting the .303 brit cartridge. But I'd sure miss all the other rifles :( .

Well, the obvious answer is Viva la revolucion! :D

But, in the spirit of playing along with the exercise, I'll take a 1911 and an AR-15... ...and a double handful of various uppers for each! :)

Rifle- Steyr Scout in .308

Pistol-if ammo is not a concern (i.e., most calibers will still be available), Glock 20 in 10mm
-if ammo is a concern, then I would have to go with a Glock 17

.357 revolver
30-30 lever action rifle

("all the shotguns you could want" perhaps we should play this hypothetical with current australian gun laws)

An AR-15 with a .308 upper - good all around caliber, readily available ammunition, and can fullfill either the battle rifle or hunting role.

Sip P220 - gotta have a .45ACP and it's gotta work without a lot of tuning and babying.

Only one of each, ehe?

Guess I'd have to go with a 1911... something fancy like a Brian Bilby-esque Commander slide on an Officer frame... Couple of different uppers would be do-able but if I could only have one... we'll I kinda have the hots for a 9x23.

Rifle would probably have to be an AR with a couple stocks and uppers. A light 16" 223, a 20" heavy 223 and a 16" something that is subsonic and could be supressed... OH yeah! :p

Harry -I like the way that you think!!

I'll play. It sure would be a disappointing world but I'd make do.

Handgun:
S&W model 66-5 4" in 357 magnum -this gives me a wide range of 38 special and 357 magnum ammunition. I can conceal it. I can use this for practice and against two legged or four legged critters easy enough. I might change this to a Ruger Redhawk in 44mag or S&W 629 in 44 Magnum. Same reasoning would be applied though.

Rifle:
Ruger 77 Mk II 30-06 with a Leupold scope. I can reach out and touch dinner easy enough and ammunition will be plentiful. Lots of different loadings.

It's great to see some more revolver people out there.

I'm gonna be boring and go with the crowd, 1911 and an AR-15 with various uppers (assuming that CA's laws don't apply anymore). If I was bound by CA's laws, I'd replace the AR-15 with a Springfield m25.

Well I would prefer a 1911 .

Resupply dictates that I would take a Berreta 92 no matter how much I hate them , and a AR15 of course.
