using lee classic turret your thoughts on a pro disk powder measure or the auto drum powder measure thanks

Auto Drum with extra drums! My Lee Turret shipped with the discs. But I purchased the Charge Bar and used that for a year. Then the Auto came out and I was very pleased with the accuracy.

I switched to an auto drum not long after they came out. I bought extra drums and have one for most of the different loads I use. For me it is very reliable. Not that the disk wasn't, but the drum is so easy to fine tune where the disk not so much. I may buy more drums in the future so I end up with one on the turrets I use most often although it is not much trouble switching between turrets with the powder charge die already in place.

I have 1 Auto Drum and 3 Auto Disk measures that I use regularly and use them all on Lee presses.. A 3 hole turret, Pro1000 and a Pro4000 ABLP

For the Auto Disks I have a number of pistol loads that I use that fit exactly the cavity of the disk so it is just a matter of putting in the correct disk and go to town. With the powders I am using these measures are accurate beyond boring. As for leaks, I spill more than I leak. With the Auto Drum I can get to the loads that the Disk won't.

I did the same. The charge bar improved the Auto-disc, but small charges of Titegroup tended to bridge the oval hole.
The Auto-drum was a great improvement.

Bought an Auto Drum in October on backorder. Received it on November 12. Tried it. Returned it November 13. Still waiting for my refund to my cc.
The slop in the linkages inside would not rotate the drum fully and powder charges varied by +/-0.5 grains. Unacceptable.
I saw on YouTube that many had the same problem of the drum not rotating, and many others sing praises to the Auto Drum. I got a bad one.

I've only used Autodrum and it seems to be right on 8/10 drops. When it does throw a odd charge it is usually +/- .1 grain.

Getting the drum broke in and tension knob adjusted is critical though.

I have 1 auto drum and 1 auto disk. I prefer the auto drum. but I still use both sometimes. The rap on the auto disk is that it leaks powder. I also think the auto drum has a better linkage. Truth is right now both are in the drawer and I am back to using a RCBS powder measure with the small drum. Mostly because I do not really like the Lee expander die as well as I do my new Redding expander. The hand dispersed charges may not be any better than the auto drum but I am pretty sure they are not any worse either and I do not have to put up with the sticky expander and worry about whether the measure went all the way. But that is just me. I did load a thousand or so shells with the auto drum and will use it again, I think. I like to change things around sometimes to see how they work.
Bottom line is I prefer the auto drum to the auto disk and it will work fine.

I started out with auto disc. Got an auto drum when they came out. Liked it so much that I bought one for each turret that I use for handgun loads. I get a little leakage on fine powders, but not much.

It’s an interesting question IMHO .I have and use both but find my self grabing the auto drum more often . The adjustability of the auto drum is why even though I use the adjustable charge bar on the auto disc .

I found the auto disc to be virtually useless until I got the adjustable charge bar then it was great . Not one of my established loads which was 10+ of different powders bullet combinations worked out to a charge weight that worked in the standard disc cavity . My auto disk sat around for a year or two maybe while I just threw my chargers with my Hornady powder measure until I finally bought the charge bar for the auto disc .

That all said when I have a problem with either the auto disk seems to be the easier one to figure out and keep on Reloading . On more than one occasion I’ve spent an hour trying to get the auto Drum to work properly to ultimately have to give up and try again later . Now that doesn’t happen often and as long as I keep it lubed up with graphite spray it really works wonderfully but at times the auto drum can be finicky in my opinion .

When I first got my LCT they did not have the drum yet. I saw right away that the disc system was a huge pita. I bought the "perfect adaptor" which allows the use of my RCBS uniflow (or any) powder measure on the press. When the turret rotates around to that station I just flip the knob up then down to drop powder then move on.
