Yugo Pap Pistol Red Dot Mount?

Has anyone mounted a red-dot to a Yugo Pap pistol? I am trying to decide between an Ultimak forward gas block (which I understand gets hot), or drilling and tapping the upper dust cover and adding a rail (which might ruin the current sights). Does anyone have any experience with their option?

Go with the Ultimak. It will be a much better and more solid mounting platform than just about anything that is put on a dust cover. I’ve never had a problem with heat being transferred to an optic. Maybe if you’re doing numerous mag dumps in a shooting class it might get hot, but I haven’t seen any issues through normal use.
