also the metal zippo has a tactical advantage as a weapon ;)

The Zippo handwarmers are "next generation" Jon-E's. They actually work, they are very conservative on fuel (use recommended measure to get either 12 hrs or close to 24 hours on one filling!) and the new synthetic Zippo fuel doesn't stink like lighter fluid.

I'm sure it has some kind of smell, but it is much less noticable. With the lid on and the catalytic element lit, there isn't a smell that my human nose can detect. Can't say whether they spook game or not.

They are much smaller than a Jon-E, too. Seem to work OK in a pocket inside a loosely-fitting jacket. If you leave them out of their pouch, they get too hot and burn fuel rapidly! The pouch appears to be part of the design, limiting heat production to the amount of air that gets through the porous pouch. On a table or in a pocket seems to be about the same, but you obviously can't run them inside a Zip-Loc bag or a wet suit. It's combustion, so it requires a little air.

I like them.
