Zumbo Responds to Levin

Quite the wordsmith that Mr. Zumbo . . . . . and as a no-charge bonus he gets it
This legislation that Sen. Levin appears to endorse is written so broadly as outlaw not only firearms, but accessories, including a folding stock for a Ruger rifle. As I understand the language of this bill, it could ultimately take away my timeworn and cherished hunting rifles and shotguns – firearms I hope to one day pass on to my grandchildren – as well as millions of identical and similar firearms owned by other American citizens.

It is clear to me that the supporters of this legislation don’t want to stop criminals. They want to invent new ones out of people like me, and many of you, and your constituents, friends, neighbors and members of your families. They will do anything they can, go to any extremes they believe necessary, to make it impossible for more and more American citizens to legally own any firearm.
I hope someone on capitol hill reads Zumbo's comments into the congressional record.

I'm glad he has seen the error of his ways and turned his back on his former behavior. Bravo, Jim Zimbo! Keep up the good work!

This is what I have been waiting to see. As I stated in previous posts, his audience is national, and the damage will be the same. Until such point as he stood up to the Congressional gun-grabbers, his error would not be rolled back. He has done so, but it is not enough.

The words he wrote will continue to be twisted. The gun-grabbers will simply say that Zumbo spoke his truth, before, and has merely recanted under duress from the evil black-guns' owners. Gun-grabbers will further argue that once they pass the AWBII, that Zumbo will again be able to speak his truth without fear of retaliation. Zumbo will have to press a very persistent attack against the gun-grabbers. Trust me...they will say precisely that.

And so, my point is, Zumbo has done well, but one time standing against the gun-grabbers re: the AWBII will not cut it. Zumbo’s words were like a scalpo-gone-wild, and his words cut all the way to the bone. This gaping wound has been stitched shut by Zumbo’s latest letter. However, such a massive and deep wound will be slow to heal among America’s firearms owners, and will be susceptible to all form of “infection” from Amerika’s gun-grabbers who would pervert the Constitution.

Time will tell, but he's moving in the right direction. Note however Zumbo's statement that HR 1022 may affect "far more perfectlly legal firearms". Guess my AR is less than perfectly legal.

"far more perfectlly legal firearms"

I saw that as well, and at first I was aghast (aghast I tell you). However, on a second read through he was indicating that it would include more perfectally legal firearms. Worded a bit awkward perhaps, but not what it seemed.
...and dangerously expand it to encompass far more perfectly legal firearms.

So he is saying that it would make illegal firearms that are legal right now.

Yeah, and let's all get wrapped around the axle arguing about semantics and punctuation when what we really ought to be doing is getting the heck out of Zumbo's way as he goes after Levin.

Anyone wants to argue over a comma, they ought to dig up James Madison and ask him what the hell he was thinking when he wrote the Second Amendment the way he did :D

Now there's a guy who has caused us a great deal of trouble :D :D

Hmm. Group editing. I'm in.

"... and dangerously expand it to encompass more firearms that are currently [strike]perfectly[/strike] legal."
Last time I checked, there's legal and illegal, but no "perfectly" legal. (The latter might even be an oxymoron.)

The latter statement sort of negates the prior statement that we shouldn't concern ourselves with commas, doesn't it? ;)

Can we close the never-ending Jim Zumbo chapter, and allow this
guy to embark upon a fresh start? Geez, the guy has done everything
in his diminished power to account for, and correct a mistake.

Memo to Jim: I (for one) accept your efforts to clarify your position,
and wish you the best in your future endeavors.

You know what would be nice. If Zumbo could use his "celebrity" if you will to encouraeg other big public names to approach capitol hill.

Tom Selleck for example an avid 2nd A supporter among many others. Funny how the conservitive side of hollywood is so quiet when the left wingers are so stinkin noisy from the bully pulpit

Personally I don't think any 2A supporter should be abandoned, regardless of how much or little noise they make. United we stand, divided we fall.

Agreed. Not abandoning anyone. Only wishing they would speak out vocally and not just with thier votes. They have access to a bully pulpit. The avg gun owner can only dream of. I get on my soap box pretty regular but nobody listens.

Beautifully written, Jim, my compliments.

Well, he seems on his way to being our thorn in the Government's side. I personally detest Carl Levin and am ashamed of our populace here in Michigan that blindly keeps him in office. He is a cancer. Hopefully Jim's letter will be read to congress by one of the pro-gun senators

Well, I'm sure you've heard the old You'll never work in this town again. ;) Even Clint Eastwood, whose fame overshadows Tinseltown's anti-gun rants, stays fairly quiet.
