Have tried a few different ones but like to go with either Pachmayrs (sometimes with the front strap removed and I prefer the ones with the Colt medallion), or the factory wood grips (really like the look and feel of the double diamond grips that came on my newer Colts). The Kim Ahrends' Rosewood skip checkered grips (on my TacSol .22 conversion), are also nice to look at as well as giving a solid feel to the grips.
These are a little "broke in", but they still work great. They have more meat up through the center of the panel, giving them more swell through the palm than your standard walnut panels. Makes for a fuller feeling grip with less movement. About as close to stippling a set of plastic panels as youre going to get, without them being plastic or rubber.
any grip that isnt gonna rub, catch my shirt and scratch at me while carry iwb. rubber annoys me due to rubbing and shirt catching/sticking. super aggressive and sharp texture g10 or plastic type grips annoy me also. im digging on elk stag grips right now for carry.
shooting wise type doesnt matter to me. like them all rubber, aggressive grips, wood, whatever.
The VZ are pretty nice when combined with the front and rear checkering, the Sig sits well in my hands. OTOH, under the trigger guard where the checkering stops, that little ledge bites into the computer nerd hands I have.
