Bought this at the Colt Collector's show. It's been replated, so it's a shooter.
Duh, the ejector rod is for ejecting empties. They don’t always fall out by gravity.I’ve always had a soft spot for single action revolvers. I guess if’s from watching all those cowboy movie as a kid. Oh! And the price was right.
I think the ejector Rod is just for looks.
Take a closer look at Gunnys picture- I sure had too as I wasnt sure what the heck I was looking at. Its a front-stuffer!Duh, the ejector rod is for ejecting empties. They don’t always fall out by gravity.

Welcome to the club! My 645 has been one of my favorite boat-anchors for years!

I've never examined one closely and don't know if the ejector is functional or not, but I suspect it is only because making a dummy would just be extra work and expense.
Something in the back of my head is saying they have rigged that to be unable to accept a conversion cylinder. Think that is intended for the European market. Nice piece non the less. I do have a fondness for cap single action revolvers.

By 1871 Or thereabouts Colt had introduced their SAA. A copy of which is our topic. This one is by Uberti with two cylinders 45C and 45ACP.
I have a Ruger Blackhawk with the 38/357mag and a 9mm cylinder. Lot's of fun...Those SAA that have 2 cylinders for 45 LC & 45 ACP are the best thing since sliced bread. Love how the 45 acp shells just drop in there almost like magic all without using a cylinder star.
A little background story to this pistol. Spotted it at a local pawn shop. Was interested, but didn't want to do a knee jerk buy. It had a glaring red flag that gave me pause. That later became two red flags. First, was the bobbed grip. To my knowledge ( which can be lacking ), STI makes no pistols with bobbed grips. While trying to verify this, I learned this particular model ( 1911 Guardian ) came only with a stainless slide. This gun has a blued slide. So my concern is this was Frankensteined together with STI parts. So there would be no STI warranty. So I get the S/N and contact STI. The guy I spoke with was quite surprised I was calling about this. He asked where in the world was I finding it up for sale? Turns out it is an STI Guardian, blued slide & bobbed grip. It was a special run of about 50 pistols they called the "Black Guardian". This particular pistol ( per the S/N ) was purchased by an STI employee. He must have carried it, because it does have some holster wear. But after learning it was legit, and figuring I'd likely never see another, I ran back to the shop & bought it.View attachment 865898 View attachment 865899
