70 page gun bashing thread.. = Lets keep this open(dont get it)
I agree with Cee Zee and Russian Hammer. Norinco made (makes?) some very good weapons. I have 3: SKS, TT-33 9MM, and TT Olympia .22 replica, and all are well made. I believe in supporting the US economy, but let the chips fall where they may. Are we talking good guns, and what works, or what ? As far as affordable and dependable, Norinco is it. I also like S&W (aren't they owned by an UK co. ?), and other corps. There are other good manufacturers , which I'm not referencing now. Just give Norinco their due. We can't get them very easily now , anyway. And I am so sorry. "No offense. - None taken." - From "The Outlaw, Josie Wales"Wow all you guys that hate Chinese guns are missing out on some very fine firearms. I don't like China one bit but I do like money. And when I bought my Norinco SKS I got to keep a lot of money I would have had to spend to get a rifle equally as reliable. It's pretty accurate too for what it is. But that rifle is about as reliable as it gets. Then there's the 870 knock off shotguns made in China. I have an 870. I have two of the knock offs. They're better guns than the 870 is. The only complaint I have is the bead is off on one of the barrels but that's something you learn to deal with.
Then there's the Tokarev copy (TT-33) pistol. That was a fine pistol that I should never have sold like I did. Then there's the AK's I seen that were made in China. They worked well. I realize those guns are showing their age these days but they still have a lot going for them. I like having shotguns where I need them in my house if you get my drift. I can use a cheap shotgun (less than $200 for an 870 clone) and not worry about it being confiscated by the cops if I have to use it on an intruder and if one get stolen I haven't lost a lot of cash either.
The worst guns I've seen were made in the good old USA. Jennings, Bryco, Raven, etc. aren't exactly great guns. And they are USA guns. I don't judge all US guns by those crud guns though just like I don't judge all Chinese stuff by some of the crap I've seen come from there.
Maybe you just have a thing against China and I can certainly see that. But the quality is there on some of their stuff.
Also another good point, 4x4moses. You might even say a "Hi-Point" (pun intended). Although I have never owned one, I have entertained the possibility, primarily due to all the good reports. Also, the price is so low. What have you got to lose ?I agree, Hi Point firearms are mostly hated by people who have never owned/used one. They are ugly, heavy and not something I'd carry on duty. But they are also nearly indestructible. Check out IraqVeteran8888's video on U-tube - They had to work really hard to destroy a Hi-9!
Relatively inexpensive "everymans" firearms that fire when you pull the trigger. The rattle is due to the loose tolerances which are part of what leads to the AK like reliability.I just don't get the Hype about a plastic gun that rattles when you shake and and a safety on the trigger????
