    Giffords shooting / mass murder

Likely the suspect was in "the crowd" security, police, and other armed people most likely could not take a shot without endangering others. A tackle was most likely the best response.

    Cars Stolen/Broken Into

Free: I had a 87 S-10 Blazer in college that the previous owner wired the ignition switch to get power from the parking lights. Without turning on the parking lights the car acted like it had a completely dead battery and would not start. This would not be simple for all cars, but with...

    started carrying with a newborn?

I have always been pro 2a, a hunter, shooter, and supported the right to carry. I have always kept a gun handy at home just in case. Not until my wife got pregnant did I carry outside of my home other than to hunt. My wife and I have carried daily for three years since and wouldn't have it...

    First Gun for New Grad

No reason but pride (must buy new) not to have a good shotgun and a good revolver for $500 A good used or police trade in model 64 or the like can be had well under $250, shotgun options (new and used) under $250 are endless. Nothing wrong with a coach if that is what he is comfortable...

    Car gun...What's the best location?

When I took my conceal carry class he suggested one way to have it in "plain sight but not" is having it sitting in a Bible cover/protector on the passenger seat. I keep mine on ME 99% of the time, but have been in a few situations I slid it muzzle first in a cupholder and lay my ball cap on...

    Exterior lighting

Clever. Point is, in a Katrina situation I wouldn't be the only one in town with my lights on.

    Exterior lighting

While I agree with you in "normal" circumstances, in a civil unrest/looting situation being "better off" than your neighbors could also make you more of a target.

    Indoor shooting effects on hearing

My ears are just going to have to ring. Muffs/plugs even with sound amplifier are going to do a poor job of giving you the awareness you need. You may be able to hear something, but what direction it is coming from will be distorted at best. I have never used high end amplified muffs/plugs, but...

Best HD gun for infrequent shooter?

/\:) Practice as much as you can, no need to be a pro to defend yourself. I have never short stroked a pump, period. Hit the slide hard you are not going to break it.

    carry in the home?

With two small children leaving a gun out for easy access is irresponsible. On my body is the most secure place for it with the exception of the safe. I don't live anywhere dangerous.
