I never thought this would happen to me.

Occasionally I wear a King Tuk IWB holster for my Glock 23. It only has friction retention (I think that's right). It fits tight, but I could see it coming loose in extreme conditions, like rolling around, or a hard fall. I wear it while riding my bike at night, and wouldn't ride without something. It is the only holster I use that doesn't have a retention strap.

I have carried for close to 30 years. My holsters are leather and at least 2 points secured. Last year I laid my bike down . Me and my pistol took a few tumbles and slides . When I stopped Pistol was still IWB in my UBGholster . Me I wasn't so good . Several days in trauma Center . At 69 bones break easy and of course nice day and helmet was home. I had 40+ K in doctor and hospital . But pistol and UBG was fine. :D

Trash that thing and buy a proper holster.

I dumped a handgun out if an IWB holster that only had friction fit retention while taking a tumble down a hiking path. Lesson learned, more positive retention during activities.

I've had my gun fall out of the holster while I was sitting on the toilet before, but that's it. After that, I learned to be careful and ensure my waistband wound up angled inwards.

But yeah, OP, get rid of that piece of junk holster and get one with 2 clips. And make sure you use blue Loctite on the screws for the clips so they don't come undone. I had one come apart several times on me because the screws kept coming undone.

While I prefer two attachment points on my IWBs, I'm fine with one for the smaller guns. However, that one attachment point should be close enough to the gun to support its weight.

I have a Rawdog Tactical holster for my Kahr. Being a leather/kydex pancake, it's similar to the Cross Breed, but the belt clip is much stronger, and in a better location. I hardly use it anymore, too wide for 2 o'clock carry, hurts my back at 4 o'clock.

I don't believe you are using the word "gimmick" correctly in this context.
c : a trick or device used to attract business or attention <a marketing gimmick>

Sometimes we get lucky and sometimes we have to pay for our education, seems to me you bought a device made to attract business.

This is why I use loops and not clips on my holster. Not as easy to put on and take off, but is def more secure.

It almost happened to me with a white hat holster. Thankfully it was still partially secured by the second clip.

Get a good leather pancake holster and carry OWB. Concealed means 'obscured from view' it does not mean completely invisible. You'll be more comfortable and your 938 will be secure.

Yes, I had a colt cobra fall out of a vintage upside down shoulder holster before. More damage to my pride than anything. I scooped it up and had it out of sight in a second.

How convenient you dropped the key word in the definition for gimmick: "intended." The full definition:

a trick or device intended to attract attention, publicity, or business.

synonyms: publicity stunt, contrivance, scheme, stratagem, ploy; informalshtick"the trivia contest was a gimmick to sell more newspapers"

You may continue to argue that you used gimmick correctly, I am ok with that. However, a simple dictionary can show that you are incorrect in the use of the word.

I forgive you though. :p

@Zach S

Straight up Raw-Doggin' it huuh? :what: LOL

Thanks for the tip on the Rawdog Tactical holster. I am going to take a serious look at the Rawdog, despite the name. I think the leather may be more "comfortable" on the back compared to another model from a different company.

Thanks for the tip! :)

If you've got to compromise gun retention or "form fitting shirts," I think the choice should be pretty easy.

Absolutely; I found a holster that doesn't have a clip that can pivot, and has adjustable retention. I look forward to showing my body I have worked my ass off losing 50# for.

I'm f'ing showing off my accomplishment.

Yeah I wouldn't trust that.

Aye, lesson learned; the hard way.

I prefer to be like the example on the left; not the right.

Well, I submit that if you choose the right leather pancake (for example, a Kramer Belt Scabbard or a Galco Concealable), a P-938 wouldn't print like either example (the guy on the right looks to be packing a full-size handgun in a very cheap, probably bulky nylon holster not designed for concealment).

These are Kramer holsters, easily conceal the P-238 and P-938 (pictured) under a tee-shirt with no bulging when worn at natural waist with a solid belt.

I have 2 of those Crossbreed holsters. They're the most comfortable ones I own and the ones I use the most. I've never had a problem. That being said, comfort and the gun being secure are not the same thing. I'll take a look at them when I get home to make sure all screws are tight and put a drop of Locktite on them.

Edit: I have the Qwikclip, which does have 2 screws holding the clip to the leather.

For general concealed carry in all weather, I prefer my LCP in Desantis pocket holster. In cooler weather, I carry my Glocks in a Blackhawk CQB.

My Kahr CW9 fell out of my IWB PJ holster while on a bike with my dog on a leash.

He crossed in front of me awkwardly causing me to jump off to not hit him too bad and the gun hit the street and slid for what seemed like 20 feet.

Tl;dr

Have a retention system while on a bike.

The problem is you don't really know if your holster is going to hold up well until you're out in public. You can only simulate so much testing it at home.

Now I kinda have a better idea what works and doesn't (protip: if someone needs to explain how it holds the gun in place instead of it being obvious...it doesn't), and I can figure things out more easily on my own.

+1 not exactly a fair comparison...

I've noticed that on quite a few so-called custom-type well-made holsters that the plastic clips or hooks leave a lot to be desired. For my 9 Shield which has a Green Laserguard Sight, I can only use a BladeTech holster. No other manufacturers make a holster for that configuration. On two occasions the holster came out with the gun when drawn. I replaced the clip with an Ulticlip. It's only 15.00 with shipping and can hold upwards of 40 lbs. of "test weight." It's totally constructed of spring steel. It has two versions one is a screw-on and one is a slide-in. It only uses one screw but I redrilled mine and use two screws so the clip won't turn. Spring steel isn't easy to drill through so a drill press would be helpful. I did mine by hand and used a file to rout-it out. You can also use common sink faucet neoprene washers to keep the screws tight. They work great. One friend of mine has even used a lock washer for his Glock holster. The Ulitclip works fine and I like it. Check It out online.
