I never thought this would happen to me.

I posted this as a learning and teaching experience.

I know all to well the amount of ridicule that people give on these forums. This isn't the first time someone posted about their gun jumping out of a holster in public.

Back when I first got my license, I never understood how something like that could happen. I am guilty of name calling, thinking those people were idiots, that it would never happen to me.

We all know sh.it happens, and where sh.it happens there are sh.it geese who like to come along and sh.it on you more. (That's where those people who voted this only happens to idiots come in.)

As far as I can tell, after doing a trade for some brass and B.S.ing a bit, the holster shifted. Going back to my car, and driving over to Cabelas, it shifted some more. I am assuming that the handle of the firearm worked its way behind my gun belt and when I squatted down to grab some Xtreme plated bullets off the shelf, the handle was now under the gun belt, standing up with a tight gun belt forced the clip to pivot. It wasn't the screw that came loose, the screw was not loose by any means. At this point, since there was very little retention in the holster, and the holster was now cockeyed, as I was walking down an isle, the gun worked itself out of they kydex and it fell out.

Looks like yes and Idiot are running neck and neck.

Having answered yes I did feel like an idiot. Small of back waist band carry and loose shorts are a bad combo.

Lesson learned never again.

Kel Tec PF9 in a Remora holster. I've never had problems when carried IWB with this holster. It was near the end of a long day cleaning calf pens in the snow. I moved my rig to an oversized inside Carhart coat pocket. At some point of bending, twisting, bouncing and climbing in and out of the skidloader, the gun came out of the holster and landed somewhere in the yard, obscured by either snow or calf pen "material". A borrowed metal detector, much hand wringing and two hours later it was found. Lesson learned.

Actually happened today, we were moving a 400lb roll of carpet, as you can imagine I was doing things I normally wouldn't (trying to not get run over by a 400lb roll of carpet coming down a stairs to be exact) and my BUG jumped the holster and came loose in my tucked dress shirt. Nobody saw, was just me and the other guy, so I holstered it and we made another attempt to move the roll to where it needed to go. I guess technically mine was never visible, but it was unsecured for the moment which wasn't cool at all.
Had a similar sitiation with my Bodyguard 38 and a 5.11 Carry undershirt. never came out, but I looked like a contortionist for a minute.

I used a similar Crossbreed minituck years ago with an LCP. Didn't like the gun and the holster would shift too much for my liking, so I traded both.

Nothing wrong with Crossbreed though, they are my go-to for holsters, I just lean towards to the ones with two clips vice the single one.

I did have a supertuck clip come off my belt a few months back, but the second clip held onto the belt. I felt the gun riding a bit high, and when I put my hand over top of my t-shirt, I could tell it was too high. From a corner of whatever store I was in, I was able to rather discreetly push the one clip back onto my belt and carry on with the day.

I had a "Plaxico Buress" moment when I was carrying my old Glock 19 on a school-organized fieldwork assignment (geological research). I had slipped into some warmup pants for the night and was making my way towards the outhouse, and the G19 I had stashed in my waistband came loose - in front of a bunch of underclassmen. As it slid down my pants leg, I "trapped" it with an open hand (you never "snatch" at a falling gun, because where will the finger go? Into the trigger guard, naturally) and claimed I had a middle-aged guy pain, and clambered back to my tent.

I was removing pistols from my safe on the way to the range. I put my 380 in a jacket pocket, grabbed one gun in each hand, and turned to walk towards my range bag on the bed. As I turned, the 380 fell out of the jacket pocket and hit the floor.:uhoh: I had carried that same pistol in the same pocket before when going to the store for a short outing. Never for a full day though. I have only carried that pistol in a pocket holster in a pants front, or pants cargo pocket since that incedent. I was glad it happened at home.
No, my wife was not in the room.
I use Aliengear IWB and OWB holsters adjusted for a tight retention for a Glock 19 and a 1911. I have never had a drop, or even a close call.

I am considering the Sig P938 mentioned in the story. Have any of you used the holster that comes with it?

Yes, I had that happen to me (although I caught it before it made it all the way out of the holster... which isn't as unsafe as it sounds because it was condition III).

With that exact same holster. If the screw on it gets a little loose, it can swivel around and dump your gun out.

Needless to say, I don't use that holster anymore. The two clip versions are probably okay, put I now use quality leather OWB holster (Don Hume thumb break) for all my guns.

I had my Ruger LCR pop out of a Talon iwb, luckily I was at home when it happened. Returned that holster immediately, did not hold well. I took a chance and bought a Kusiak holster after speaking with the owner and I love it. Retention is outstanding and the rig doesn't squeak like the Talon and it grips my pants like a vise, drawing is never an issue. Looking to get another for my Kahr 9 ASAP when their shelves get new stock. For all you LCR guys I would tell you to take a look at these rigs.
