How many people here have bought a duplicate rifle/handgun

I have 2 - 5.5” Ruger Vaqueros (originals) in .357 for Cowboy Action. Never really saw the need to buy more, but I do have a Vaquero in .45 Colt as a backup.

I have a S&W model 19 and a model 17 in the same configuration so I can plink with .22s yet have the same feel as the .357. That could be important if I used the 19 in competitions but I don’t. I just wanted them. Thought it was a cool idea.

I have a Glock 19X and a Glock 45. They are basically the same configuration. I call them “The Good and The Bad”.

Oops...If you meant rifles, the answer is “not right now”. Thought I was in the handgun discussion section.

I have I think 2 S&W 22a's....love those guns

I bought one of those shortly after they came out (1996). Think I was the first kid on the block to have one. The ergonomics were great. Accuracy wasn't the best. The plastic buffer wore out quickly. Another one of those OEM lifetime things. There was so much fuss about them after a year or so, the factory would send you a small packet of them if you contacted them. Then the gun mags picked up on them and had nothing good to say about them. Thankfully I was able to sell mine and get back what I paid for it. I thought it was discontinued. Then years went by and suddenly they were all the rage. Glad yours have proven trustworthy.

Yes.
Tikkas. .270 Winchester, .30-06, and a 6.5 Swede.
I also have a Tikka T1x I recently acquired. It is eerily similar in all aspects to my Sako Finnfire II, except for the plastic stock and goofy magazine.

Only in a few cases (eg, I've got 5 AR's but just because they're fun to build - and all of them are a little different. 2 are in 5.56 but one is flattop and one is carry handle. The other 3 are all in different chamberings - 7.62x39, 9x19mm, and .300 Blackout).

For the most part though, I've got every technical "need" for guns covered in my collection. When I get new guns these days it's because the design is something different, or it's just something new to tinker/play with. With that in mind I try to buy things that are different than anything else I own - both in operating method/design and in chambering. EG, handguns on my "want to buy" list are the H&K P7, Steyr GB, and Beretta PX4 because they all are pretty unique in how they work. I also would like to get a rifle in 6.5mm Creedmoor because it's in a new cartridge that I don't own anything else in.

Wow Gunny that is definitely an armory and a half, and to think I had quite a vast collection. Other than my black powder revolvers which are 1858 Remington, and Colt 1860's all replicas,. Although I d have I do believe those are the extent of my collection. Other than my Kentucky BP rifles that are Flintlock, one is actually a Lancaster Model in .36 caliber, and the other is a Pennysylvania Model in .50Caliber beautiful wood on both rifles, had to replace the lock spring on the Pennsylvania Model after shooting about 100 rounds thru it.

I have had about half dozen pass through my hands over the years and all have been reliable and plenty accurate enough to be boring on a steel target at about 80 yards ( 2/3 sillouhette)

I have gotten a few Black Power revolvers.

Some how some model 10s snuck into the house.

And I ended up with two Colt 1917s

I like service autos and have a few duplicates.

Mini 14, Mini 6.8 and Mini 30, does that count? 1873 Wichester, 1892 Rossi, and 1894 Mossberg, all in 45 Colt; does this also count?

1 is none.
2 is 1.
3 is better than 2.

carry, practice, hot (vetted) spare.

as for long guns, the same deal or 1 for every member of the family. :D

I've got three 870 shotguns.

Other than that, no duplicates. I do have two revolvers that will shoot .38 special but only one that will shoot .38 special and .357.

Thanks for the comment Gunny. The answer is no, yes, and yes. My wife is sweet and lets me get about anything I want. My comments were made more as a compliment that anything else. In a collection as large as yours, of those duplicates, which ones see most time outside the safe?

Thanks for the compliment. If I could have found a good wife, I would rather be happily married then have a large collection. But we must play the hand in life that we were dealt.
I don’t have an outdoor range close by so, my handguns get shot the most. But I would really like to get some range time with my Enfields.

9 mm Glocks of different sizes and generations. Does that count? The commonality of usage and mags was a selling point for me.

To that I would say I have two Enfields. A No 1 with the wire wrapped fore end and a No 4 post war edition that is like new. Does this count as a duplicate?

1858 Remington target. Found frame with sights for cheap and put other parts from standard 1858 in it.

The only true duplicates I have are a pair of 1848 Second Model Dragoons.

I had a pair of 5.5-inch ROAs, but one was stainless and the other blued.
Have a pair of 3-inch GP100s, but one is a .357 and one is a .44 Spl.
Have a pair of Buckmarks, but one is a slab-sided Plus and the other is a Camper with a TacSol threaded barrel.

And since this is the Rifle forum, I should note that I have several Model Sevens, but no two in the same cartridge.

No exact duplicates closest would be the my pair of 4 3/4" SAAs one is a Colt the other is a USFA. I have several 1911s 5 that are 5" 45 ACPs but they're all different configurations a Para doublestack, a Les Baer, a Gold Cup, a Combat Elite and a 100th anniversary.
I also have a dozen ARs but they're all different

The only duplicate firearms I own are a pair of Uberti 1851 Navy revolvers. I bought the second one for two reasons, one because I wanted to get a two gun belt and holster combo (like Bill Hickok) and two, because it take so long to reload this way I'd have more shots between loading.
