Ever had a gun whisper to you?

Back a few months ago I started a thread about a CZ .17 Hornet at the LGS. Been there a long time, and I can get it at their cost. I have a really, really nice 3-12x50 Burris scope laying on my desk that would be perfect

I’m old enough that I’ve sold off most of my guns and have no reason to add one. I have virtually zero use for it, other than if I ever go on a Prairie Dog Hunt again. But, it would be the perfect 100-250 yard gun. Zero recoil and very quiet.

Don't you just hate that?
First gun that I fell in love with just looking at its picture was the first gun I ever bought. Here's a picture of the magazine cover that made my heart go pitty pat.

I got it in 6". Lovely gun in all respects, but geeze, Louise, the hoops I had to jump through in 1974 in New Jersey to buy it!

I bought a new 6", around 1972 in Augusta, Maine, at a gun division of a Western Auto Tire store adjacent to a road/bridge MDOT project I worked on as a construction inspector. I paid the terrible price of $175, new in box, which wasn't far from a week's wages back then. Later, I acquired a 4" model, used, but didn't like it as well.

Yes a SS Marlin model 60. Had a blued one and it was a tack driver. More accurate then I. Ate anything I feed it. Reliable as the day is long. Hope the new ones hold up like the old ones. I'll find out this weekend.

I WISH they would only whisper....

There is a pawn shop in town I have not visited in six months because of ear damage! Who says .22LRs don't do ear damage???

I have a ghost of one that haunts me.... 1995...just graduated from College and was completing an internship making a stipend of $5/hour (was lucky to be paid anything at all). I was in a gun shop and there was an unfired 4" Royal Blue Python on consignment for $500. I knew even then that I needed to move mountains to buy it. Unfortunately, those mountains had nothing under them so I had to let it slip by.

Years ago I saw a Rem 870 in 20ga. My son at that time was very recoil shy. I didn’t even get to walk away from the case before the whisper was loud enough for me not to hear anything else.

Recently bought a 7mm Mauser because it whispered to me for a few months...

Okay, so that might sound like I'm a candidate for one of those jackets that ties in the back, but in this case I'm talking about it whispering "Buy me.... Take me home....".

We had a Ruger 10/22 come out with an OEM folding stock and a nice optic....

Damn thing won't shut up. It knows I'm a double deuce junkie......

That's an adult gun enthusiasts addiction disorder that there is NO known cure for other than to feed it.

Got two firearms that are speaking but cannot exactly understand what's being said. One is a 38-44 Smith&Wesson N frame revolver. The gun has maybe sixty percent finish. The right grip has considerable more wear that the left. Initials are scribbled in the butt. The gun has no burred screws-period. No Bubba attack. Makes me wonder what the story will be if the voice becomes understandable. The other is a Remington 141 pump with retrofit Ajack scope. Finish is about 80%. It's another rifle with an aura. Likewise, no butcher work on the Remington. I'd like to know that story also.

I had a Remington 700 in 6 MM Rem.
When it started to fire without the trigger being pulled--I sold it to a gunsmith. It whispered to me" you will be sorry"
Dam thing was right--I feel sorry every time I think about it.

I had one in particular that just said "Take me home big boy !!! " I had inherited an old Stevens Favorite it had been my great grandfathers that was missing some parts , and one fine day as I was wandering through the L.G.S. I spotted a new version and didnt even bother looking at the price tag , just took it and had him ring it up , Gimmie Gimmie Gotta Have IT !!

Can't say that I have. I have had a couple that might have contacted me by telepathy telling me to get rid of them because they weren't capable of shooting worth a hoot. ;)

Yeah, right now there are two that are calling me. Both belong to a friend. One is an old custom bullseye gun. A 1911 in 45 ACP built by a big name Smith back in the 60's or 70's. Like I need another 1911!!!. The other is a Remington 40X. A newer one chambered in 223 Remington. I have no doubt that I can buy another used Remington Sendaro and put a custom barrel on it and have a better shooter, and somewhat cheaper. But,,,,,,, Its calling my name!!

I was looking in the gun store yesterday for an NAA .22wmr when a used 22/45 lite screamed my name. I did not need it, I have several already (8). But at $225 that was #9. Yepper!
