It’s a slow start, but it’s a start. It should come together quickly. I need to do more work on insulation for this entire attic area. It’s a neat space. I have a goofy closet that is low cieling and sloped cieling where I can only stand upright in the center. That closet connects into a larger and taller area which is over what used to be a garage… so essentially my closet has a bonus room. I think it’s 30 square with sloped walls left and right, flat walls front and rear with a window in each wall. There’s a whole lot of work to do and all of the sh-tuff has to go up a flight of stairs to get there, but there’s big plans coming to fruition slowly but surely. The casting area will be out in the shed and I have some scheming to do yet but it’s gonna have a fume hood. This week I need to finish running power in one of the sheds. So far I have pulled 140 ft of 8-3 and ran about 200 ft of 12-2 romex in a 10x14 and a 12x16 shed to get lights and outlets in the small one, lights, 1 outlet for hvac window unit and motion light in the big shed. Gotta run outlets in the big shed still and that’s where the casting station will be. If I can go positive pressure with hvac and use a fume hood too then that should be considerably safer for airborne lead. Fume hood courtesy of a kitchen remodel so it’s a range hood with vent fan that i will duct outside. The light in the range hood will be nice too. I have a couple scavenged pieces of lexan to help create an enclosure. Been planning this for a long time and the move we made in the summer set me back a bit, but it also gave me space to do what I want to do.

The shooting stuff will still be sharing space with mechanic, fly tying, machining, 3D print, leatherwork, and fishing stuff. The machining really needs a big step up from being slightly more than a joke soon. I’m torn on if I want to save money with a combo machine or if I want to do separate lathe and mill. Being limited by space it’s going to almost have to be mini-mill and mini-lathe, but I could maybe squeeze in a standard size “gunsmith combo machine”. That’s long term dream though.

Been working hard to get this area together. I have torn out a wall downstairs and have pulled the wiring up into my unfinished bonus room. I have saved upper cabinets and countertops, reframed a little, rewired a lot, and have started insulating and moving into my spot. It’s still a mess but it’s coming together quickly. Next step is to clean up a bit and start unboxing. I have 3 presses, a fly tying station, and gunsmithing area to fluff out. I will also move my 3D printer and work desk into the area. My feet and back hurt but it’s gonna be worth it REAL SOON.
