The Gun and Knife Picture Show

I tried one of those ZT 0542's (if I've ID'd it correctly) and it had an INSANELY strong detent retention, didn't smooth out over time either. I have to believe that was a fluke since I doubt they would have sold more than 5 if they all had detents as strong as mine was. How do you like yours?

ETA: Nope, looks like it's a SIG copy. My mistake, looks identical to the ZT

What's the knife paired with the G43?
I liiike it!
That is a Rick Hinderer (RHK) XM-18 3" Wharncliffe. He makes a 3", 3.5" and even a 4" version of the XM-18.

It was back in like 2012 when it was actually quite hard to find one and when you did you could expect to pay $500 at least. He has since ramped up his production in a new facility and has come out with many other models. The XM series alone probably has 10 different blade profiles to choose from and can be found more easily available. Used to be you had to stalk forums for sale sections and pay a 2nd hand premium from a LEO/MIL/FD/EMS because he reserved all direct orders for them and when he released them to the limited list of distributors he sold to they would sell out within a few minutes and you could look forward to paying a $200+ premium from the people quick enough to get em.

It's not like that anymore luckily. They are great knives, sorry for the book. I'm a knife guy as much as a gun guy. Gotta have a good pocket knife.......

Everything in the fist picture was handed down to me from my grand dad.

If you ever have interest in selling the Benchmade butterfly, give me a call. Ive got a passion for flipping them, lots of cuts on the fingers in the beginning šŸ˜ƒ

I also have one of those early model Spyderco Police, it was the first spyderco I ever bought back in like 2009, first quality knife I really owned.

WooD

Nice pics! I especially like your knife and gun pairing!
There were knives in his pics? I was drooling over the Smith snubs...
This was one of my favorite combos, at least as far as knife / gun pairings go: Les Baer UTC 1911 and a fixed-blade from Shellback Knives.
Not familiar with the knife, but the LB is a true classic.

It actually is a ZT, specially made for SIG with the Legion chevron on the other side of the blade. It's quite a cool little knife, and not at all intimidating when I take it out at a restaurant to cut my ribeye.
If I saw you cutting your steak with a ZT in a restaurant I would do something gentlemanly like send over a round of drinks, I do the same thing. I use whatever knife I'm carrying that day to cut anything, especially meat, no matter where I am. I have drawn a few looks though šŸ˜ƒ

I bought my first Benchmade butteryfly around 1990. I got so tired of getting cut, I bought a cheap butterfly at a gun show and ground the edge off the blade to learn on. I have a few Spyderco's. My favorite has always been the Native. I have a stainless handle, and black handle version. Got a lot of Case XX. My dad was always buying me one. The one in the pic of the 66 he gave me when I was 12 years old. I'm a LOT older now!

Ahh, but cutting yourself while practicing is how you learn a clean technique. Or so they say. It would surprise me a great deal if many here know just exactly how skilled you can become at flipping a butterfly knife (balisong). There are just an uncertain amount of tricks and motions you can learn or make up. I'm no pro by any means but I can hold my own. Gets real tricky when you add one to your weak hand. Needless to say, lots of cuts on fingers. I had a Benchmade T-Latch 43 I loved. I've heard of people using trainers and taping the blade to avoid cuts, I like to think my technique is cleaner because I never taped up..... Spent like 4 years straight with a butterfly knife in my hand learning, making everybody around me crazy, "you're gonna cut your fingers off" to "wow", thinking it was some kind of sorcery or magic. Just an obsession really......

The trick is to keep the blade sharp, cleaner cut heals faster, but there were certain times i cut myself pretty badly and wished the blade was a lil duller, thus not so deep. My wife always knew when I got myself badly, a certain look on the face, before the blood starts and you abruptly stop what you're doing to excuse yourself to the bathroom for some glue and a bandage. šŸ˜†
.
Nice collection and pics WooD.

I like guns and knives too, but I now have more knives than I know what to do with. My wife's cousin was a knife fanatic and I inherited his collection when he passed. I have everything from cheap NRA giveaways to CRKTs, Spidercos, Bucks, Benchmades, ZTs and even the Buck 110 he carried in nam. Somehow I need to thin the herd down to just the ones I want to keep but the job is overwhelming. Poor me (lol)!

Do a give a way ever once in a while! Lol. I donā€™t have that many but I know it can be a lot more overwhelming because knives are so small. You can have a hundred+ in a shoebox.
