A 1911 on Caspian parts came back purple. The shop redid it with whatever was off corrected and it became blue. Might have been bath composition or temperature.

The Model 1905, 4th Change in .32-20 I just got is almost like that, except the crane is also purple. The sideplate shows signs of some sanding due to pitting, and the crane has some very small pits in it. A prior own maybe redid them in cold blue. I figure the purple gives the century old piece a little character. It's going to be a shooter for me so the fact that it's not pristine is actually a bonus.

I would say it’s been refinished. The end of the hammer pivot pin was left proud on the pre WW2 guns. That one has been polished smooth
