WHY do we carry?

A. "It's my right."

B. "So I don't have to take no guff off'n nobody!"

C. "So I can save innocents from evil."

D. "So I can get home tonight."

I'm a C & D kinda guy... I like to think that I'm kinda innocent about at least a few things... And my karma can run a lot faster than your dogma...

A & B worry me, because it doesn't seem like a lot of the folks who fall into those categories have really thought out the ramifications of lethal force.

"Sure, son, it's your right, and I wouldn't dream of giving you any guff... Now will you please quit waving it around?"

no CCW in WI

I live in Wisconsin, only LEO, military on active duty or criminals carry weapons here. You can not get a permit to carry a weapon unless you are hunting in a designated hunting area during hunting season and you have your hunting permit. Our govn'r likes it that way and wants all guns registered and rounded up, Obama wants your state to have those same rules too. I have guns, when society degrades to the point I don't feel safe any more I will carry no matter what the law is, I would rather pay a fine or go to jail than die or die after watching my wife raped and murdered or the same thing happen to my son. I believe in buying guns from independent people with no receipt so when they do come to confiscate there will be no records. Say it can't happen? tell that to the people in countries it already happened in. I reload too, no one knows how much ammo I have. Paranoid whacko? When the SHTF, and I hope it never does, my family will still be alive.

The only reason I carry is that I figure it is my responsibility, and my responsibility alone, to keep myself and my family safe from harm. I cannot/will not reply on the government or any branch of it, including the police agencies that populate the city, county, and state where I live. I'm happy for the help when and if something happens, of course, but I'm sure not going to be put into a position where I have no choice but to wait. Waiting for the police to arrive is in fact no choice at all.

I carry a gun because I might need it... which is the same reason I carry a spare tire in my car... And I hope I never need either one.

I carry because I decided a while ago that I am going to do what I can to assure that I don't leave this planet until I decide that it is my time to do so.

I also carry so that I can have a chance at refusing criminals the ability to kill me or my loved ones.

I also carry because it makes me more proud, devoted, and protective of the ideals of the country that I live in and love very much.

Also, I just like guns and don't mind having one around.

I carry because my primary weapon (common sense) may not be effective for somebody who's coked out and wants my wallet, and a dead victim...

I'm with Griz. I am getting older and less able to confront a violent criminal using my bare hands.

However, the crime rates in 2007 show a clear decrease in the number of violent crimes committed in the United States. With no empirical evidence whatsoever, I am willing to attribute that drop to the fact that criminals are beginning to realize that there are more of us carrying concealed than ever and that armed resistance makes for a much safer society.

Second, prisoners are not being released at higher rates than in the past. As a matter of fact prison populations nationwide have continued their upward trend as government throws the net wider and increases the length of stay -
Admissions times Average Length of Stay equals Average Daily Population. Prison ADP's have slowed but have not stopped their upward population trends.

Moreover, since Mental Health Treatment and Facilities have been guthooked many mentally ill persons with no safety net do end up in jail, then out then back in, and they clearly pose one of the greatest threats to us because of their unpredictability and violence.

Why do I carry? Because the incident will be over in seconds, and the police will be here in minutes. . .

I carry to protect myself, family and property. And if need be protect against foreign invaders (mainly terrorists) and members of a tyranical government. Unarmed citizens make a country weaker, not stronger. Look at Sweden, they have a small population, but with gov. issued assault rifles in every home and the requirement to qualify, it makes foreign invaders think twice. Those are the main reasons our founding fathers wanted us to have guns. Besides hunting for food if need be.

I look at my carry gun as life assurance. :)

Because the world is filled with danger, and I don't know when and where it may strike. Oh, and because I can.:)

In all of the anti gun states where you can't open or conceal carry or even have a freaking loaded gun in your own vehicle... I wonder if ALL of the gun people started to NOT obey the law in those Nazi Like Law states... how many people would the police arrest and how many jails would they fill up or would a TEA PARTY start across this country in defense of those gun people who told them to ___ off and utilize the SECOND?!?

I used to live in ONE of those STATES with an anti CCW, lying RINO GOV who went along with the HEAD of the F.O.P. and the higher ups in the State Highway Patrol - he did what THEY wanted more than the so called 'conservatives' (HA!) that voted him in - yes, he STABBED those gun people in the back. So what else is NEW? BOTH parties do that once they get elected.

Like the old saying goes.....
It's on a need to know basis,....and you don't need to know.:neener:

Hey, for real....We all have our own reasons...and whatever those reasons may be...do it right, do it legal...
