Kind of cheesy, but just like the title indicates.

Mine was a near mint Remington 1100. Not anything major, but I have always wanted one, but never got around to buying one. Now I have it.

Resolved, to attend at least one 2-3 day handgun instruction class.

Resolved, to not start or answer any groaner threads.

Resolved, to write my representatives at least quarterly. More if necessary depending on the political breezes.

Just one?

The top purchase this year has to be my gunsafe. I have always wanted one and finally just got over the inertia and pulled the trigger (no pun intended). It provides me daily entertainment as I open and close it and rearrange the contents.

A close second would be my Bushnell Laser Boresighter. Yep... the lowly $40 boresighter beat out the 7 guns I bought this year. Shoulda bought it sooner. I immediately put it to good use on all my scoped firearms and saved myself a ton of money and headaches trying to zero all my new scopes with real bullets and range time.

In playing with the boresighter and adjusting the scopes, I also found a lot of loose screws and missing screws which reinforced the notion that I needed to do more routine inspections and maintenance.

The rest are just guns... nothing special. Funny how you get intrigued and hung up on a cheap item while ignoring a firearm that costs many times more.

Training.

I attended the two-day Fighting Pistol class and two-day Fighting Rifle class with Tactical Response. Great classes and I improved my skills tremendously. As much as I enjoy buying new guns and accessories, I really prefer knowing how to use them to the best of my ability.

My class reports, along with other's:

Pistol - http://getoffthex.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6321031321/m/4381059964

Rifle - http://getoffthex.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6321031321/m/9841025074

edited to add:

My shooting goals, not resolutions, are to improve my IDPA standing to Expert, and become proficient with my .308 rifle.

An older gentleman in the collectors society sold me his M1 Garand.

It is one of the first 600 M1 Garands sold by DCM. He received it in 1977, opened the box and all the packages inside, cleaned the gun of the cosmoline and put it away without ever firing it. So, I picked up an M1 Garand that had been sitting in the Red River Arsenal until it was shipped to TN in 1977 and had been lovingly kept in a safe until just a couple of weeks ago.:D

That and the Vietnam era Randall model 14 that I got from the guy who bought it in 1973 between his first and second tour.

Saiga .223 and accessories.

I don't make New Year's resolutions. My life choices are base on circumstances, not a calendar date.

Wow, I've bought a lot of guns and accessories this year, starting with a Kimber Royal II in January and ending with a Savage built Enfield No 4 Mk 1 in December. In between there was a S&W 442, SIG 556 w/ Trijicon Tri-Power, M1 Garand, Springfield EMP (gone) and Para PDA. And a couple of stripped AR lowers.

But I'd have to say my favorite was the Nighthawk Custom Talon II bobtail I had made. No question about that.

Though I really like that Garand. :banghead:

before this year i had one gun (XDsc 9mm that i bought 16 months ago).

In 2008 i bought:
EAA Witness Elite Match .45
Ruger GP100 4"
S&W 642 snubbie
Ruger 10/22
Remington 870 Express
Ruger Single Six 4-5/8"
RRA Midlength AR15

favorite one is likely the AR15 (most recent purchase) cause it's something i'd always wanted but been hesitant because of the price.....the election kinda forced me to buy one and i'm glad i did

Can't decide ... Springfield XD45 or Glock 19.
Or ... maybe the Taurus Thunderbolt?...Nah, the XD45 .... wait, GLOCK!... er, um hold on there a minute ---- *!SNIP!*

I picked up a 1937 S&W 38-44 Heavy Duty for $270. It has all matching numbers, including the grips. I've been told the grips are probably worth $500+ and the whole thing at $1,000-$1,500.:D

Winchester Model 70 .270wsm

On a side note, I was hitting the pawnshops this morning killing time and at one shop I found a good condition yugo sks for 249 and a Mosin M44 in about the same shape for 269, neither were matching numbers. There was also a nice Remington 700 in .30-06 with a Leupold Vari X II for 460 and a layaway plan with 90 down. I'm seriously contemplating the 700 and the sks.

Two this year. Joy from both of them for different reasons:

Russian SKS - must have been mis-marked. $169 about a month ago at Gander Mountain. Flipped it the same week for $300.

S&W M&P15 upper with BCG and YHM Flip up front sight. Itching to shoot it.

AK fun!

That would have to be the 16" Saiga .223 I got for $275, just before the dollar fell even further against European currencies and prices spiked over Obama.
